Transfer Refills to Eckerds or Walgreens, ect...
      #99518 - 09/11/03 01:27 PM

I was wondering if I can and if anyone has gotton their OP refills filled at a local pharmacy. I would love to get the cheaper price of the local pharmacy like walgreens or someplace. Let me know if I can do this and if you have done it. I don't see a reason why I couldn't??? BTW the pharmacy I have the refills through is Universal Pharmacy Solutions located in Huntingdon Valley, PA. The Medicine is 90cnt - 10/500 hydrocodone. The OP is uspharmacyrx.com. Thank for any info.

Jason,
This Question has been asked and pondered by many here on DB. There are at least a handfull of links. But basically to answer your question NO!!!. First off your local Wallgreens is not going to honor an out of state script. And secondly if you were able to get some Mom & Pop pharm to honor the script, you would be stirring up a hives nest and putting the OP and all of us who rely on them in jepordy. Best to leave it be and let the OP's make their profit.
I don't know who BTW is but If you feel your paying too much, get some records together and shop around.
Good luck to you.

Yep...I agree with Greg. This is how op's make their money. If we were to just "use" them for consults and the first round of meds and then get the 2 or 3 refills sent on to Walgreens only to pay a mere $10 co-pay, then they wouldn't be making a profit, would they? Yes, it would be nice to have meds for cheaper, but this is the expensive price we pay for using OP's. They make my life alot simpler (not having to deal with unsympathetic and undermedicating doctors)...well, worth the cost, imho!

Thanks for the replies. I was just curious if you could or not. Guess I will stay with the online pharmacies. If only my pain management doctor would give me more than 90cnt 5/500 vicodin. And something other than stupid muscle relaxers. Oh well. If the online deal works out ok I am going to drop my pain management doctor. Thanks

If you do a Search on here about Walgreen's or Eckherd's you will run, not walk away from them when you have a narcotic RX. They are definitely desiring to go into the Celebrex/Vioxx/Neurontin direction, I think. And they are very close to being the next best thing to a national database, so once you're in there...oh gee, just don't go in!
I am hating spending the money, but the relief is something else...
You know actually, a lot of OPs do not charge more than Rite Aid with no insurance.

They won't make me take any kind of inflammatory medications. I am allergic to them. I had VERY bad bleeding ulcers 2 years ago from taking so much asprin, motrin, vioxx, ect...(I lost half of my hemoglobin) my whole life for migraines and stuff. In the hospital for 4 days. All my doctors says and knows that I cannot take even a hint of a anti-inflammatory drug. I still have bad unlcers but at least they are not bleeding. But they do hurt. Anyways, thanks for all of the replys. I am not going to try to transfer or anything. Thanks

BTW Duh!!!! I misread your post. Just one other thing. I don't think there are refills at uspharmacyrx, are there? I thought it was similar to buymeds and tropical. Anyway wise choice not trying the transfer.
Cheers

I just wanted to say hope I did not come across like 'oh, don't you do that'. It is just that Walgreens really trains their pharmacists to hate filling pain med RXs and there have been some upset posters on both boards who have driven home after being humiliated in the pharmacy. No lie.

Then there was talk of Walgreens trying to cooperate and make some kind of big database. So it looks like they are more than happy to fill non controlled RXs that are still under patent (!), and if you are in terminal pain and wheeled in in a chair, then you will be probably be treated politely.
