Hi, all. I have a question and wanted to see if anyone who has experience with Madison Pain Clinic could perhaps help.
I've been finding it increasingly difficult to manage my pain as of late. I have two herniated disks that I've been treating for years (with a variety of therapies, not just medication), and recently diagnosed with Interstitial Cystitis, another chronic pain condition. I cannot just take 3-4 Norco's daily and achieve a level of comfort that will allow me to function properly, i.e. work, take care of kids, house, etc. We are also in the midst of selling our house, have had a death in the family, etc., and I need to have adequate pain relief. I have thought about cutting back seriously on my medication and just 'living with it', but I'm in tears some days.
Looking at Madison's prescription information, this would seemingly be the route to go. I have terrible insurance, and every doctor, orthopaedist and pain specialist doesn't manage the pain as the OP's have done, and every visit is more $$ out of my wallet that I truly cannot afford to spend, with my daughter now needing braces, they both are in orchestra which costs money (I don't want to compromise anything for them), and we also need to save for their college education, amongst so many other things. Home insurance has skyrocketed here in Texas where I live, and we are paying out the nose, so there is more money. We are barely making it month to month as it is, and I don't want to search and search more than I already have for a competent PM doctor, since what I've seen so far (quite a bit) is bad news.
Also, the main records that I have were from McGregor Medical, which is now defunct, and I've put in requests for my medical records (they sent out forms after they closed their doors), and have not received them, with no way of contacting them anymore. I have recent records, but not detailed as I'm certain MPC will need. So I'll need to go back to the doctor to get more recent MRI scans and diagnosis's, which is going to cost an arm and a leg I'm afraid. I really want to do what's best for my health and the compounded hydro in the amount that they prescribe could get me to a more comfortable state. In retrospect, I really took for granted those painless days of the past. When you have to deal with this on an ongoing basis, it's feels more like existing.
If any of you could relate your experiences with MPC, I would be really appreciative, thanks.

Corrie, if you are not moving out of the state of TX you could also check out Dr. Mildred Watson, I think she's in Lewisville now. I've heard good things about her and MPC both, except MPC is very expensive. Here is her site if you want to check it out, and if you live nearby you can visit her office in person. I'm thinking about making this change down the road. She also prescribes compounded meds and does blood tests, etc. Very thorough.
Dr. Watson
Best of luck to you, sorry to hear all you have going on in your life right now.

Thanks so much Legitimate for that link and your support.
We (my dh and I) go on roadtrips occasionally, so I may just set up an office appointment with Dr. Watson sometime in the near future, if not, I'll be able to at least do a phone consultation. It's just good knowing that there are pain doctors that care out there, and she seems like one of them.
Thanks again for the link, it's helps alot.

Madison had the absolute worst, most arrogant customer service I EVER experienced from an O.P.! Avoid them!
Shorted refills, delayed refills, adversarial staff people (when the phones were answered) and on and on. Go with Dr. Watson, you'll be MUCH happier.

As one wise veteran DB member put it, "they do it by the book," but gosh, their prices are outrageous! It can cost you upwards of $800.00 for a months supply of medicines. Compounded or not, that was just too much for my wallet! Take care of yourself and have a great week.
