Hi. Is there anyone who can please help me with problem in UK????
I really don't want to whinge and whine on a very first posting here, but I am really desperate for help and so although it may seem a long posting it may be easier if I explain the problem.
I have read your postings but all of the places and prices mentioned for buying medications seem to be listed as USA and don't know if they will deal with posting to UK and £sterling payments. I am also very nervous about buying anything this way. I work and can't afford to end up in trouble with the police or Customs and Excise etc.
I am mid 30's and have had Rheumatoid Arthritis since age 5. I now also have a jaw problem (TMJ)also causing some pain and problems. I have been on DF118, anti-inflamatories, topical-analgesic-creams etc daily for twenty years. I was also put on Temgesic 0.2mg (Sublingual) a few years ago, and was finding coping ok on one/two a day on pain-days and not taking any at all on good-days (box of 50 tablets lasted 7-8 WEEKS).
I had a very supportive GP and got along ok and he certainly did not see the amounts as a problem.
I have now moved for work purposes to a new county at the other end of the UK and the GP here will NOT prescribe Temgesic at all. He also makes me buy analgesic creams from the chemist because he won't prescribe them as he "doesn't believe they work". I told him they do help especially the ones that warm up on massage but he just says he will NOT prescribe them so they are now costing me a fortune to buy.
He has even restricted my DF118's down from eight tablets max per day down to an "absolute maximum" of six tablets per day.
It is not possible to change GP due to rural location GP catchment area etc.
I am not a malingerer. I have always worked full time, even throughout the five and half years I spent in a wheel chair and still work now even though I can only walk using a full metal support caliper on my leg.
I am now totally at the end of my tether and feeling very isolated (especially in new place). The whole pain situation is made worse by damper climate where I have moved to so the last thing I needed was to have medication reduced and the rest of it stopped totally.
I went to see the GP to explain this and say that I feel very sore and it is getting me down and ask him for help as I am struggling.
He said he would NOT change his mind about my prescriptions and added that I was probably suffering from depression but said it wasn't severe to be given anti-depressant medication but instead he suggested I go and "BUY" over-the-counter St John's Wort for depression and Aspirin for pain!!!!! He will NOT budge on this.
Like most people with Rheumatoid Arthritis, over the past thirty-odd years I have spent a fortune trying everything "alternative" that I have ever seen advertised - lotions, potions, tablets, diets, food-exclusions, food-inclusions, exercises, meditations, healing, "miracle-cures" etc so it is not that I automatically resorted to pain medication.
I have never asked for any stronger prescription medications, or asked for larger doses etc, so it is not that I have abused the system. I pay for my presciptions from the GP so am not asking for "free hand-outs".
I am now reaching the stage though where unless I can find some way of buying cheaper analgesic-creams and obtaining Temgesic 0.2, then I will be forced to either give up work and give in to the pain/immobility or uproot the whole family again and move either hundreds of miles to my old GP or move to warmer more suitable climate!!
So if anyone can please help me to find a sensible solution to this problem I would be really grateful. Thank you.

Try IMRPLUS.com, IMRPLUS.com They are based in the UK and are a mirror site of AvoidMiddleMan.com which seems to get pretty good reviews on the DB boards. I haven't looked at the site for awhile(was registered with IMRPLUS but they were unable to ship to Canada)but the last time I had looked, they seemed to carry quite a wide variety of meds including temgesic. Hope this helps.

I am in the states, but have used Biotran (biomagic is their other name) which I am sure is based out of England. I have purchased their 30 mg codeine product (codeisian) and it works pretty well, though not as well as hydrocodone in the states unfortunately. This OP allows you to have a free sample and then if you want more, then you only pay once the meds have arrived. I think that avoidmiddleman and importeddrugs also ship to England and may have codeine products as well. I know that imported has Soma and Zanaflex (muscle relaxers) which may help you with your pain. I wish that I had more to offer you but I am racking my brains and can't think of any more IOP's off the top of my head. It is good to have you here at db. There are alot of us that suffer from chronic pain that aren't "layabouts" and are just looking to have pain free (and productive days)...I have to for myself and my 26 month old daughter who keeps me on my toes. Good luck to you! I am a huge British comedy fan (off topic) and would love to visit England some day...hopefully.

But MSILLY - Biotran specifically states that he will NOT ship to any EU country... So, dont do that... If u want some lowdose codeines quick try one of the canandian places.. approx $20(u.s.) for #100 8mg - not great, but might get u thru it, and they are quick.... Hope this helps a alittle bit Pip, Pip cheerio Luv714

Temgesic is available as Buprenorprine HCl from some of the Thai pharmacies. One very reliable one is
ClickDrugStore
They ship very quickly, but there is always the chance of a problem with UK customs.

Hello Ree, if you aren't allergic to codeine I think I may have a solution for you. I live in the states but have some friends that reside in the UK. As far as I know, Nurofen Plus (ibuprophen with codeine) is available over the counter (OTC) in the UK. Besides being OTC, the codeine in Nurofen Plus can be easily separated from the ibuprophen thus allowing you to get relief without risking the stomach bleeding associated with large amounts of ibuprophen. I will not go into how to separate the pure codeine from each N+ pill, but you can find info on this easy-to-do proceedure by doing a search of archive posts on "Nurofen Plus". You may want to take at least one of the pills with the ibuprophen to help suppress the RA swelling, along with a few of the separated codeine to help relieve the pain. It's a shame your GP is not more compassionate. You may PM me if you have trouble finding the info on separating the codeine. Take care and I hope you feel better soon.

Hi there, I read post and want to say that that is terrible how some of these doctors treat you. I am testing a company now but so far their references come out pretty great. All their customers really love these guys. I can not endorse them as of yet but they are located in Ireland. Perhaps they can help you. The company is GenXXL.com, you can email and enquire.
Best of luck with your pain.
