Neurologist/PM Specialist ?
      #96044 - 08/27/03 03:18 AM

Hi All!! The closest doctor I could find to me (15 minutes away) for Pain Management, is a Neurologist who's specialities are Neurology and Pain Management. I've got Crohn's Disease, Bad Joint Pain associated with it (thought I was getting arthritis), 2 back disorders. Is this the type of doctor I would need to see for the constant pain I'm in all over? - Or Who? Why in the world some of the doctors I see for my conditions think there is no such thing as pain associated with what I have... I just don't understand.

If I were you I would go to an all purpose pain management specialist, no matter how far they are. Since PM docs usually want to see you once a month, you may not have to go very often.

It dosent' look like you need a neurologist, although he may be great. I guess you just have to meet him to find out. I know a doctor who is a rheumatologist, but is really one of those great, compassionate PM docs who is not afraid to prescribe. He sees all types of pain patients, not just rheumatological ones. I guess all you can do is go see this doc for yourself.

Thanks for the response. I have had it mentioned to me before during one of my back specialist visits, the Fibromalgia (sp?) condition. I checked out a site yesterday with some information on that condition, and I have most all of the symptoms they mention. But - the disease and back disorders I have also have these as side effects. The only problem is, that the doctors treating these conditions don't want to treat the extras such as pain that go along with them. We know how that goes, don't we?

Hi Quincy - where is this doctor located? He sounds like a great doc.
