How long for Customs???
      #95606 - 08/25/03 07:08 AM

I had something shipped usps global a few days ago and the tracking # shows as being in Miami Customs(I believe Miami). It's said "being processed by customs" for about 6 or 7 days now and I am beginning to worry. This is my first international order so maybe it's completely normal, but....... Can anyone help me out with this question??
PS. Hope this is the right forum

You could be getting a seizure notice if it's in Customs that long. On the other hand, they might just be backed up looking for more real threats to the nation and they'll let your pills through. For Express Mail that they will eventually let through uninspected they don't usually have it for more than 2 or 3 business days. USPS Global might be a little slower.

Thanks for the reply Trampy. Since this is my first international attempt with an OP getting a letter would be a big bummer.(Actually anytime would be a big bummer!) Time will tell. BTW, if it is indeed confiscated, is the $ spent down the tube or what? FYI it was made through rx-sale and a 90 ct 2mg alpraz...... Thanks again

Don't know how reliable the information is, but a couple IOP's have emailed me that they have much higher U.S. Customs seizure rates on stuff they send with a signature requested upon delivery. If you want tracking numbers, I suggest sticking with U.S. OP's. If you use IOP's just figure that you're going to lose 20-25% of your orders and factor that into the price/purchase decison.

Also, I don't think customs typically sends letters after most "seizures," as I've never received one in five years of dealing with IOP's and experiencing the 20-25% lost order rate cited above. Strangely, I've had several packages opened by customs, resealed with that yellow-green tape and shipped on even though they were clearly filled with blister packs.

I don't think the seizure rate is that high -- that's just the orders not received rate from IOP's. There could be many reasons: they were never shipped; they were stolen by IOP employees (most likely IMO) or postal workers etc. Some mail does just accidently get lost too -- there have been posts by people who received orders six months later. The parcel was probably behind some cabinet somewhere until a postal clerk found it.

Keep in mind just because the tracking system says it's still at customs it could easily just be saying that due to a postal worker not scanning your package when it left, happens all the time.

True Bouncer, yet get this.... I checked the status once again this AM and it said, "Your item is being processed by United States Customs. No further information is available for this item." This was different. It used to say "Your item is being porcessed by US Customs. Status is updated every evening. Check again later"(or something close to that). I hate to say it, but I'm kind of waiting for a notice in the mail. If this happens does anyone know how rx-sales.com deals with it? Will they reship to another address? If so, will they charge again? Thanks for all the input
