A friend called me today to ask me a question I was unsure of. He said he had just returned from his doctor. He takes 1mg xanax 3 times a day. He has been on this medication for 12 years now. He has anxiety problems and has been seen by physiatrist and other doctors.
He has to check in every 3 months with his local doctor. He said the doctor writes him a script with 2 refills everytime he goes. He said he had one refill left on his bottle that was at walgreens and had a paper script today with a script for 90 and two refills.
He was wondering if he refilled the one that is due in a couple of days and takes the paper script to another pharmacy, will it come back to the dr.
He has seen the same dr and isn't trying to scam for pills, it is just every now and then, at the end of a month he may run low and figures this may be a chance to get an extra bottle to put up when the end of the month comes and he is 5 or 6 short it could come in handy and last for 3-4 months.
I was not sure what to tell him. He lives in Oklahoma and I know that Xanax is a schedule 4. Would he get in big trouble if he refilled his prescription and got the paper script issued today filled?
Would there be any risk if there is no insurance filed?
The same dr did write all of the prescriptions. Thanks in advance.
I've done that at Walgreens for Celexa and Elavil with no problems at all. I don't know about scheduled drugs though - Sorry - I've always waited with benzos. Maybe someone else here has and can elaborate.
