Jhees ..
If you'll notice, I've been around for quite a while.
Haven't been around HERE in about six months or .. a little more maybe.
What in the heck happened to the price of diazapam? HOLY smokes. It used to be 10 cents now it's a buck or a buck 20 a tablet?
LUDICROUS
You know how cheap these are, don't you? I mean the markup on an order of $200 valiums is about $180 profit ... not to mention $85 shipping or whatever that costs them $5.
Now, this is just OUT OF CONTROL.
Are there ANY other options than the four places I've visited for MODERATELY priced anti-anxiety medication?
At this point, I think we'd all be better off just doing the doctor referral thing. I mean, I don't have a prescription card and I get 90 10mg Diazapam for $8 at Wal-Mart. The stuff is super, duper old technology and it is less than a penny for a drug company to make it.
They made back their R&D costs about ... oh .. 1974.
WHEW
This is a rape of unprecedented proportions.

Yup. I remember just a year or two ago when you could get 1000 for the price 100 is gettting.
The IOP's have figured out people are willing to pay more. Supply and demand.

When I was doing my grad and post-grad work (too long ago for most to remember) meds were very reasonable. I quit that to work for the CDCs and soon after drug prices went through the roof. Nothing really changed, chemical prices didn't go up enough to justify 2000% profit so the companies started blaming the FDA and the time it takes to bring a drug to market. In Europe the same drugs are brought to market at prices so much lower than here that it's almost silly to even order from a pharmaceutical firm here, but, fed law makes it illegal. What changed? Congress made sure that the drug co lobbyists got what they wanted, a monopoly on all drugs manufactured and used in the US. Guess who got screwed. Congressmen/women get their meds free even after they leave Congress. The original Continental Congress are spinning in their graves over this one, but, they are spinning over so much more we don't even feel it anymore. I love the US, but things must change and meds would be easy. Just MHO.

Does anyone remember Libsol??? The price of their Roche valiums were about $6.00 for 30. They had the BEST prices of ANY OP until Dennis Faulkner got screwed in Spain by the pressure of our beloved FDA!!!!!!!

Yup.
$6.00 for 30
Vinci-online.com had some sales sometimes where you got 120 for $40 shipped.
I don't know what ever happened to Vinci. They were always solid for me and then ..*poof* .. went away.
Much more silently than Libsol (which, of course, I paid full membership for)

My theory on the dramatic price increases on all meds over the past couple of years is that its nothing more than a supply/demand issue and OPs/IOPs are charging what the market will bear.
Each year there's an increase in the portion of the population that have home PCs, internet access & the comfort level to use them. There's also generally a growing awareness (thanks to spam, the media, & some interesting search engine results) among the mainstream (read: not already desperately searching) that various meds are readily available for sale on the net. If one types the keywords "pharmacy, internet" into a search engine looking for drugstore.com or cvs.com one is likely to pull up links to many non-traditional (our OPs) sites as well.
There's a link available here somewhere to the old Drugbuyers.com that was on EZ Board just a couple of years ago - the increase in the # of members from then to now is absolutely staggering. Many of these new members & especially non-members who don't have access to the font of knowledge at DB don't know/care that the prices they're paying at some places is exhorbitant - they're just so thrilled that they can buy valium, codeine, etc. at all without a prescription. As OP/IOP sales have increased annually with these new customers, the owners have realized that even if they increase prices fivefold the demand will still be there especially for the best known controlled substances like Valium, Xanax, codeine, etc.
I'm not a morning person so I hope my theory makes sense the way I wrote it - again, its JMO.
Take care

Nope. Your theory makes perfect sense to me. Supply and demand. However hopefully as those with access to these drugs see the profits being made price wars will develope.

Can you say "boycott"?
I knew you could.
Of course , there are probably not enough people willing to boycott the places that charge a dollar a pill to make a difference.
I have organized my own personal boycott of those places that charge too much for meds, or add some ridiculous 40 dollar "consult fee" (Ahem-Access-Cough-Meds) to their already high prices.
It's less a political thing than a personal poverty thing. I have records, but Best if kept off the board insurance and a Best if kept off the board PPO. So I can go to some of the best USOPs and reap the benefits of totally reasonable prices for US generics (like 35 dollars for 90 diazepam 10s from MMC) Or I can send my Ambien script to P24 and save $100 dollars or more on a month's supply. And there is still importeddrugs (as far as I know) for all your other medical needs. THey do have that base consult price, but the 30 cent nexium more than makes up for it.
I guess I wasn't around in the "good old days," but (first) my personal temperment and (more recently) my dire financial situation have kept me safe and sound far away from OPs of all kind that rip the customers off more than they should get away with. I paid $150 for 50 10mg pax diazepam. Once. Then I came here. Follow your nose. It's not raining xanax anymore, I guess, but it is still out there. And P24 still sells 25 10mg roche valium for 5.99 (euros, and the USD is weak against them right now, but whatcha gonna do?).
Edited to say save $100 a month on Ambien. Save! is what I meant.

This is exactly the reason I go the us op route anymore. The huge iop prices don't justify the wait and custom's issues to me.
