I've found that Xanax really helps me feel more normal.
How can I locate a local doctor who is comfortable writing Xanax prescriptions without hassling me?
Xanax is much cheaper locally than from an IOP, and I don't want to worry about my order being confiscated. Thanks.

If it were that easy, OP's wouldn't exist. You need a valid medical condition like panic disorder which warrants Xanax. Wanting to feel more normal- we all do, but you might want to have a psych exam done to see if you've got any kind of anxiety disorder.

Just go and see a quack, they are out there and will write for just about anything, it sounds shady, and it probably is...but you do what you have to do...

OP's will prescribe Xanax, but without a previous history of taking them, IOP's are still your best bet. For your sake, and health, you probably would be better off to see a local therapist of even your own local PCP and see if they can get you started on a theraputic range of Xanax to see and monitor your progress. If you need help finding some one to help you, you can always check with your local health department, or dept. of human srvices. If you have insurance, call your providers network. Xanax is not a ood medication to try and self-medicate with.

Listen to PrivateRealm.
Whisper, I'm not sure if you know this, but Xanax withdrawal can be life-threatening. If you're ordering online, you have no assurance of a constant supply- why leave yourself in that position?
It's worth it to get a psych exam, but if you insist on getting Xanax after trying alternatives, then do your homework on conditions that warrant Xanax like panic disorder. webmd.com is a good place to start. Present this problem (if you have it) to a psychiatrist.
Btw, there is a new form of Xanax, it's called Xanax XR. Because Xanax doesn't last very long, you have to take it 3 times per day (usually). Xanax XR is a new, time-released med, and if you've got prescription insurance coverage, it's the way to go.

DANG! I want your doctor! My former PCP wouldn't prescribe anything controlled at all...when I herniated 2 discs in my back he told me to take MOTRIN! Gee, that was helpful! LOL! I had to fight with him to get him to prescribe ADD medicine for my son, after a psychologist diagnosed him and recommended it. It seesm like there are only two kinds of docs in the world..those that will medicate, and those that won't, no matter how bad the problem is.

In my humble opinion, a doctor who refuses to prescribe relief for a condition like herniated disks (I have three and average 6 to 8 on the pain scale daily), doesn't deserve to call themselves a doctor. To me, not to help a patient in pain is a violation of the oath. I have met so many doctors here who share his philosophy and can totally sympathize. Thank goodness for caring OPs who are very thorough in counseling and helping prevent dependency and tolerance issues. The Best if kept off the board "Take a Motrin or a Vioxx" types that want to poison your digestive tracks with NSAIDS make me sooooo angry.

What I would to is read up on the use of Xanax, what the syptoms are and then spew them to your doctor. Preferabley on the seeder side ot town.

This was a good suggestion. Thanks.
I am going to go to see a Doctor at the county health clinic for $15 (the charge is based on income and I don't have any). I think you are right that I should just tell him what he wants to hear so that he can feel good about helping me get what I want. It will be a challenge for me.

IOP's are definitely the best bet. I use destinyrx.com and every couple months I get what looks like a hand written letter full of generic V's & Xanax! Great quality too.
For hydro and the hard stuff for sure a stateside OP, but it's super easy and virtually risk free to use an IOP for V & X. (Yeah we all see the thread on the occassional "I got arrested.. blah blah blah.." ) That's all hype and rarely happens.
Of course this is just my opinion, not trying to lit a match under anyone.

You need to have a medical reason for a physician to prescribe you xanax. You say you feel normal when you take this medication. I think more important question is "how do you feel when you are not taking them?" or "what do you need them for?" Most doctors will be very skeptical if a patient requests a certain med, especially if it's addictive.
Good luck!
