Watson Generic Brand Norcos
      #94449 - 08/19/03 06:41 AM

What are peoples' opinions who have used the Watson generic brand of norcos?

I personally find them to be as effective, if not more so, than Brand.

Just curious.

Thanks in Advanace.

I am currently prescribed norco 10/325's(Watson) and I have always thought Watson was better than brand, including Vicodin 500's & 750's.

Watson is the manufacturer of both brand name Norco and one of the generics. For me, Watsons kick in the quickest, which is why I like them. Otherwise, Mallinckrodt will suffice, and Able/Qualitest- forget it.

M367 is Mallinckrodt, that's fine. The ABA (which I assume refers to Able?) is a mistake of some sort.

I have found Watson 10/325s to be very effective. However, the Watson 10/325s in my last refill seem only about 50% effective. I don't know if it's tolerance or "bad" meds.

I find all the watsons to be more effective than name brand,in most cases, but I only have so much to compare too. But the differnce between "Norco" and "Watson", the Watson always seem better.....who knows why?????

Let me ask a stupid question here but are norco 10/325 similar to percocet 10/325? The reason why I ask is because I saw a percocet the other day that on one side read Percocet and the other side read 10/325. Norco is 10mg of hydro vs. oxycodone right? Is the Norco somewhat similiar to a Percocet though? Just curious. Thanks in advance!

I wasn't aware Endo Pharmaceuticals was making a 10mg dose of Oxycodone in a non-time release version. They've always had 5/325 mixed with either aspirin or acetamenophen. If in fact you have 10/325 of Oxycodone, those tablet are double to triple the efficacy of Hydrocodone. They require a triplicate prescription if that's what they are. Hope this helps.

Train,
My personal experience is that Percocet 5/325 seemed to be more effective than Norco 10/325. That could be because the last time I had a Percocet was 4 years ago and I been on Norco about 2 weeks now.
I found this link below surfing around it is interesting.Narcotic Equivalence Converter http://www.medcalc.com/narcotics.html

They are equalanalgesic up to about 40 mg. Try the narcotic converter in the free members section under links.

No difference whatsoever. Watson makes both the brand-name Norcos and their generics in the same factory using the same ingrediments. They're exactly the same.

yes, they make 10/325 oxycodone (percoset). I received some for a kidney stone once. The doctor must have been new because she prescribed a bottle of 50 and instructions to take 2 every 4 hours. The pharmacist saw this and told me that the doctor was wrong, the dose was too high and that I should take 1 at a time-they equalled 2 of the regular percosets. Unfortunetly she must have thought I was drug-seeking because she never prescribed narcotics again for me. My kidney stone got hung up again and didn't pass that time. A few months later it started hurting again and I went into see her. I was in agony, kidney stone pain is unbearable, but she didn't seem moved by my tears. She wanted to know more about "this pain" as she coldly put it, and why I had blood in my urine. I have heard that addicts fake a kidney stone by priking their finger in the bathroom while giving a urine sample, then dropping some blood in it. That, plus some good acting will probably get you some narcotics. But if anyone here has had kidney stones before and gone to the ER, they know about this trick. Now doctors have caught on and suspect everyone who comes in complaining of a kidney stone of malingering. They make you wait until they run a CTor Xray and labs. Then, possibly after 3 hours have passed they will give you a shot of something. Terrible to have to suffer like that....Wait, what was the original topic here!!?? I start off down memory lane and then drift off...Anyways yes, they do make 10/325 Percosets, but a lot of doctors don't know that. But they sure know about the 2.5/325's.

Sarah
