I heard about this on the news the other night, I've been using the regular Google toolbar for a long time and just love it. The new version of the toolbar now stops pop-up ads (supposedly) so anytime you have a browser window open Google will stop pop-up ads. I just installed the new bar and for those interested you can download from this LINK
I downloaded the one without the advanced features.

Thanks for posting, Kathy. I use Google as my homepage and the new "No Pop-Up" toolbar has been promoted on there over the last few days.
I also use the WebFerret search engine (not as my toolbar) which is downloadable from the major freeware/shareware sites (cnet.com, etc.) and have found OPs that google hasn't come up with.
Take care

I use Google at home and at work. I'm certainly going to check out the pop-up deal on it and on webferret. Thanks, DTZNuff and lovepink, for letting us know.
My main concern is my computer at work. It is a brand new Compaq and is very cool. But, like most of the new computers, it "remembers" everything I type in wherever I go. If I go to Google and type in a "d," the site "drugbuyers.com" shows up instantly. There are also other searches I have done, (some even related to my work--hehe) that are just my business, not for the whole world to see. I am sure some of you techy people know how to disable that feature of Google.I played around with it a little yesterday, but could not figure it out. Sure would appreciate any responses.

I just looked at my post of a few minutes ago and saw that I did not thank Legitimate for starting the original thread. So...tada, thanks Legitimate. I see that you are a fellow Texan. Hook um Horns, Gig um Aggies, and all that good stuff!

Hi Fluffy - I just clear my history by clicking the Windows "Tool" button, then selecting "Internet Options", then "Clear History" and that succeeds in clearing the address bar as well.

clearing history doesnt clear the toolbar- i know what shes talking about ( i have same thing on my computer ) like if you hit D - it will remember anything that was typed with D. There is a way to turn off that function entirely. I believe its in the settings. ( maybe under my computer or expolorer- i had to turn mine off , it was a long time ago though , and i cant remember how i did it - but it can be done )

if u have a "work station" and not the computer u may have an administrator that has disabled the delete history function so as to be able to check up on employees, i guess checking up on employees is the thing to do now a days.

i dont know - all i know is i happen to have a compaq myself ( and hated when that function was on ) but somehow i turned it off and i do not remember how . I hated it on cause i though the man i lived with would just type any letter , to see what i was looking at. ( never saw him do it - call me paranoid ) like my privacy , going thru my computer is just like going thru my mail.

Lovepink i had to edit cause you are totally right(by the way i am running the exact same thing as you) if you are using all your default settings this will work for you keeping your toolbar on googles site clear. I was using advanced setting you can do this by right clicking on your explorer and go to advanced you can also check "Empty Temporary Internet Files folder when browser is closed" This will get rid of them as soon as you close explorer. thanx to Legitimate and i think tusan i can use this now for the first time "HTH".........heath

O and for those of you who are not using the same OS and ie try and look into your advance setting. This might help if they have the same option it might work for a differnt version of ie hope this helps........heath

That new Google toolbar... I can't recall exactly what I read, but I believe you give up some privacy when using it.
I'm not sure if it is spyware...or what the issue was.
I may be wrong, but I wanted to mention it.
