I am new here and checking all the boards. I have been unable to find the answer to this ?
How long does Lortab/Hydro show in your blood? My PCP has ordered a full blood workup including, liver, cholestrol, diabetes, anemia etc. Just wondering since I have to have this test and I dont want opiates showing up since my PCP does not know I have rec'd meds from a OP. Thanks!

I am also new here but due to my job I have some knowledge of drug testing. Depending on the type of test ordered hydrocodone is detected from 1- 3 days. Without a suspicion of opiate use it is EXTREMELY unlikely that a Dr. will order a gas chromatagraph type test due to cost. That is the type of test with the longest detection time. Not all of the standard antibody reactive tests used to screen for opiates will even pick up hydrocodone as most of the tests look for morphine and its metabolites. With a 2 day break from hydro the odds are highly in your favor and with 3 days you should be ok regardless of the test used ( excluding hair).

Wow! And to think I wasn't even aware that they would 'test' for something that is legal and would be prescribed by your physician! Say, on a related topic- if you're tested and the test comes out positive and you have an Rx from your physician, does this still count against you?

Here is the answer from the company that is widely accepted & used in US to perform & QA work related drug screening. Very accurate data . . .

Wow, that is a great site. Thanks for the link. I have wondered that question myself. The last time MY DOCTOR prescribed Hydro for me was 7 months ago. I guess I could always say that I took some left overs.

In order for them to find out about the drugs, they must do a toxicology screening. This is not done on routine checkups; it's done when there is some form of already existing suspicion, or to rule out drug use.
If you have a prescription, that positive on the drug test will not count against you in any way. If you have been prescribed opiates by a doctor (face-to-face) previously, then there is your excuse. Maybe a bad cough warranted codeine cough syrup, maybe you had some sort of dental work that was painful and you got a small prescription, etc.
Nothing to worry about.

What about Soma? DOes anyone know if this is a commonly tested for medication, and if so how long does it stay in your system?

It's not commonly tested for. Go to erowid.org and check out the drug testing section. Soma's also not even scheduled in most places.

Also wanted to add that in some states you can buy a small amount of weak codeine cough syrup OTC. It's a Schedule V substance, and you have to sign the register, promising that you will not do this again for x amount of hours. In NJ, you can buy 4 oz. of Robitussin AC (weak, but it would give you an excuse for passing the test if you didn't want your doc to know about OP's). That was around March, and you're only allowed to do it twice a year here; you gotta also find a mom-n-pop pharmacy that's willing to sell it to you. The big chains certainly will not, but you just gotta look, there are plenty of other places that will.

Thanks Yaw for your response. You are right, all my tests came back great and the cholestrol is even low! And the PCP who orderd the tests (routine yearly stuff) has given me scripts face to face before.
As always, thanks for your knowledgeable response/help, it is much appreciated!

I get U.A.'s all the time and Flexeril nor Soma never show up. I think I read somewhere that they are not screened in the standard drug tests.
