Unable to sleep due to pain, I began reading a book I picked up at the library yesterday. { reading the results of my back MRI on the same day made me realize that I was facing a long road of chronic pain, so I hoped this book would help-- along with PT, Opiods, etc.} I nearly wept as I read through this book-----For all with chronic pain, this is how DRs, SHOULD be, and this is how pain SHOULD be managed--and this is the standard when you are searching for someone to manage your pain. Don't settle for anything less than what is in this book. It is "Power over Pain"--How to get the pain control you need. It is by Eric M. Chevlen, M.D. and Wesley J. Smith. Copyright in 2002 by International Task Force. At last, to read that someone understands pain and how to fix it, AND isn't afraid to give whatever is necessary to control the pain. This is a book of great hope. Please read it and realize that pain control really is possible.

that book sounds great, I just hope a few of the doc community read it so they might get some idea of what we all go through. As an aside, if you just can't get any satisfaction and are desperate you can always move to Australia. The docs are so much more understanding and don't have any problems treating pain. Even when they cant pinpoint a medical source most still say ' if you perceive you have pain then we have to make you comfortable'. ahh life without the dea
