LINK

check out the part where it says the base regarding credit card use will be readily available to law enforcement.
Honestly, people, this concept is being presented on a thousand different fronts, until it can slip thru unnoticed.

What should we do?

Poeple are being tracked in every single way possible these days. There is just absolutely no "true" privacy anymore since everyone has SSN#'s that brand us all like cattle and give the government every way thinkable of keeping an eye on us. This, unfortunately, does not suprise me one bit.

Thanks for that story,Prettyday

I agree, really, really not good. What is ironic, our SSN was originally meant for the IRS as a form of taxpayer identification. Now it is so widely used, the IRS came up with another ID, the "Taxpayer ID". HAH! Same amount of numbers as the SSN.

I can't believe it! Other people are concerned about SSN proliferation! I give my SSN only to select government agencies; IRS, Dept.Revenue, VA. When some private concern asks for my 'number' I just say NO. You should see the weird looks I get. Sometimes it erupts into a shouting match, but most of the time they back down, or else I just go somewhere else. It makes things difficult, but it can be done. I have car insurance, bank account, internet service, credit cards, celphone, pager, everything I can think of.

I even got a letter from the social security administration that DID NOT HAVE MY NUMBER ON IT. They said it was to prevent identity theft! So why should I give it to a dentist?

FIGHT THE NUMBER!

Happy trails to you.......
