Hey Guys and Gals!
Thought I would start a thread for the CHAT Room. Y'all can use this thread to set up times and dates to meet someone in the CHAT Room to Chat. Like for example,if everyone wants to meet there at 7pm tonight,you can post it here so others will know you're going to be there and so on...
Remember,you may have to download some Java plug-ins,so make sure and download this about 15 minutes (dial up anyway  ) before your time to meet. It's pretty Cool in there,you can carry on several different conversations at the same time,so everyone doesnt necessarily have to be on the same subject.
Nice way to get to know each other,share some laughs,ask questions and so on..

Hi J. I got there a few minutes late and nobody was in there. When I first went to the chat room it was just blank, I had to try a couple of times before I could get it to work. Has anybody else had this happen?

When I go in there, all I see is a grey box. Am I supposed to do something?

LOL! That's what I was talking about. Try it again - you should see your name and whoever else is in the room at the time and click on who you want to chat with - then type in your remarks and send. It doesn't work all the time for me.

Oh no....
I'm sorry Legitimate! I was posting an example to help folks understand how we/they can all set a time to meet in there.
Bless your heart...you went and no one was there? Maybe we can all decide on a good day and time to meet and chat?

No problem, I thought that was maybe what you were doing. Still though, I see sometimes that it says for example "3 people are in the chat room, come join" and I go and there isn't anyone there. So, I just thought my mind was playing tricks on me again

I was in the Chat Room with a few people today, and I like it allot its a great way to get to know fellow DB'ers. It's much better than most of the Java App chat rooms I've seen (even the ones I've programmed)
How bout this:
Lets meet up in the chat room Friday June 20th at:
6pm Central Time
7pm Eastern Time
4pm Mountain Standard Time
4pm Pacific Standard Time
See you there friends! 
P.S. look HERE for other world time zones (for our European friends)

Cool! I'll try to make it at 6pm,but it may be a little later for me,like after I get my Grandson to bed for the night.
But,yeah...that's the idea,post on here so the word can get spread around whenever members want to get together and Chat.
Good way to get to know more about others,without the normal "Where can I find.." stuff. LOL!

Sounds good Jeremiah, I've talked to a few others who will be there too (mostly in the shout box) I'm just going to log into it early, stay in it and even if I have stuff to do, ill say in there and attract others. I imagine when people "stop by" and notice 4,5,6 or so people in there even the shy ones will pop in and chat.  And your right it is a great way to get to know the DB community without all the Where can I find.." stuff

Well I must be doing something wrong. First time I went, it said one person was in there but I only saw the empty gray box. So I tried again and I saw only myself in there even though it said there was two people in there. What am I doing wrong? Boo hoo I wanted to chat with CzAr!

It is often slow in openng up for me. And often it's empty when it says there are 2 or 3 people chatting. So I guess that's not just me.
I had a phase of several months when I got really obsessed with chat rooms on aol, i would spend hours and hours chatting. Then I got on DB and now I spend those hours reading and posting!
Lookng forward to jumping into some chat though. You know it took me MONTHS to realize that the SHOUTBOX was not just a REALLY slow chat room!

Well I guess I'm right along with you...I've always assumed it was a really slow chat room. Especially when all you see are posts like "Is anyone there??"...now that seems kindof funny! (what exactly is it for anyway??)
Anyhoo...has anyone got the chat room to work? I have tried a few times and ALL I get is the grey screen...does that simply mean that noone is in there, or that I'm missing something? Should I be seeing something else pop up? I WANT to chat!!! HELP !

Woo Hoo!!...I finally got into the chat room! I heard that it takes awhile to load, so I just walked off for a minute after seeing the grey screen and when I came back I saw chat!! But it wasn't pleasant chat (it looked a bit heated)...so I left. Anyway, I'm excited!! BUT if any of you would like to volunteer to teach me to post links I would REALLY appreciated it ! I am such a computer dummy and I have always wanted to learn to do that. PM anyone if you will volunteer your knowledge...

Mello, posting links is easy! When you are on the web page you want to post, right click on the link (address line) so it's highlighted and click copy... then go to your post and click on the URL button, a little window will open - right click and choose paste and then another window will open and you can choose what you want to call it - like instead of www.whateverthelinkis you can type in LINK, for example and that's it! Good luck and let me know if it works, I'm not the best teacher in the world.

LOL Pat! You would have figured it out anyway! You're a sharp guy.
OK, the link here does work,the grey box is there until the Java applet loads and then it opens,,takes a minute or two,but it does work! Cool!

Hey Sorry Legit, I was about 30min late last Friday but when I got there we had about 6 people and A nice chat, unfortunately I had a bunch of friends at my house and we were all drinking rum and being loud so it was kind of hard to chat. But Lets do it again this Friday same time same place, Ill have my new high speed Dedicated Access line and 16 computers so ill just get in there at 6 central and stay in there till everyone else shows up.
6pm Central Time
7pm Eastern Time
