Do you mean fake in terms of the search not producing accurate results, or in terms of the person actually lying about every single identifier to the registry company?
Just curious,

I have noticed recently that less and less real information is provided by whois.net. There is a competing registry search engine at http://www.betterwhois.com which claims to be better, but in my limited experience the results are identical.
One registry I was checking out recently was all NA NA NA NA NA NA NA NA NA NA NA NA, I thought I was being taunted until I remembered NA means not available.
I think we may still get a glimmer of the truth from some of these whois searches. Sometimes we can confirm that "competing" pharmacies are owned or run by the same gang, which helps us make infomred decisons about where to spend our money.
To some extent it is like a boat flying a flag of convenience; an IOP can have the internet registry in Panama but all the meds ship from Bombay. And who knows where the bank accounts are.
