Perhaps we could stop changing the subject lines in our posts.
It gets a bit frustrating to read the same threads because someone has changed the title.
Or maybe I'm just a little too persnickity.........

I agree. It's confusing to start a thread about "XYZ" and then look up and wonder why it's now about "ABC". I think that's when they go severely off topic, too.

Take Care,
Toky

Thanx for replying Toky. I'm sure my post will make not a bit of difference but it's nice to know at least one person agrees with me!

I agree as well...I mentioned it in a response I made in the Interpharm thread under Int'l OP Feedback.

Thoroughly agree with you. I changed title once and realized what it did to the thread.

Forgive me for getting a wee bit off the subject...but I do so love that "persnickity" term (giggling)

People, PLEASE!!! Stop changing the titles of the thread! If it needs to be changed (in your opinion), then it probably needs to be an entirely new thread! I was reading along in "Oh My God" only to look up and see that I was actually reading "Counting at the Wallgreen's Counter". ACK! These topics can be confusing enough, can't we all agree to just leave the titles alone or start a new thread? It's not fair to the original poster or to the people who are trying to follow and/or lend support and information to the original topic.

DB, is it acceptable to use the "notify moderator" button when we come across a post that changes the topic? I think many of us have voiced our frustration on this topic already, yet it continues to happen.

Thanks,
Toky

I 100% agree with this...why do they change the title??
I see no need for it at all. It is VERY confusing when you are looking through the threads.

I think the people doing it don't know they are doing it. Same thing happened to me tonight while reading a post on eRx, next thing I know the subject line is recent orders! I posted and changed it back but it was confusing - and it doesn't take much to confuse me Not sure what the answer is. My "notify moderator" button is getting worn out these days

I notice this has been happening ALOT these days...AGAIN. PLEASE STOP CHANGING THE TITLES. It is very frustrating. I'm not trying to be crabby, but this causes so much confusion. If you need to go off topic enough to change the title, just start a new thread, PLEASE.

I totally agree. In fact, I authored a post on this subject a month or more ago, which obviously fell on deaf ears. Sadly, the only people I see replying to this very important subject are those who I know already comply with this rule. The people who need to get this are nowhere to be found.

I fell into this trap this morning myself. I replied to a post and saw after the fact that the thread title had been changed, so I went back and replied to myself to change the title back to what it was before! Darn it!!

*WOW* I never realized this was such a controversy! I promise I won't change the subject of a post in the future - not that i've often done it in the past. I don't quite know how it is that I use this site differently, but i've never had this kind of trouble. Example -- I open the Main Index in the first window, a sub-catagory ("General Info, Comments, Questions, Answers, and Help (USA)", "Who Offers It? How Much?", etc) in the next, and for the individual threads in the list each is opened read and closed one after another in a new window as I cross them. I rarely pay attention to what any particular reply in a thread has for it's title. All I have to do is look up at the name of the window I'm reading and behold there's the name of the thread that i'm currently viewing. Hope I don't sound sarcastic, i'm just surprised because i've been hanging around this place for what seems like forever and i've never even thought of the "secondary" subject titles as anything but maybe another possible place to embelish your comments. I guess it could be my computer (Mac, not a PC) or something in my prefs but the place has never been anything near confusing for me.. Regardless, as I said, i'll certainly refrain from doing that at all in the future.

I think whoever changes the title is being inconsiderate, When someone starts a thread, they usually want advice, help or some form of info. Then someone comes along and wants to ask something totally different,, so they change the title to their subject! I don't get it.

I also agree with legitimate,, People don't realize they do it,, but then again they probably don't care!!

Hey Nova, I'm so impressed! You actually admitted to committing our pet peeve. That says a lot for your character, THANKS! One thing that does happen when the subject is changed is that the thread takes on a whole new topic, meaning everything before or after the subject change (depending on your viewpoint ) ends up "off topic". Thanks for offering to help.

Also, for those of you who have inadvertantly done it, or to get it back on track, you can go back and edit a post you recently made so that you dont' have to reply to yourself to make the subject change. Just a tip that I find useful... I love that edit feature, and now it's longer than in the old days, so that helps a lot.

Take Care,
Toky

I totally agree on this one!! Just yesterday I opened a thread to find out I had just read it and the title had been changed by someone in the very next post. It's very frustating to say the least.

I guess this will just never end. I am wondering if we should start using the 'notify moderator' button on posts where the subject line has been changed? When I read the "feedback and experience" thread, I really expect to see information on "feedback and experience" and I count on the thread title to guide me to the information I am most interested in. But when the title is changed from (for example) "XYZ Pharmacy" to "this sucks", then the last post shows up in the right-hand column as a new post in the thread, but I have no idea what OP it relates to, as it just says "this sucks", giving the poster's name and time of post.

Most members are considerate of others and don't change the subject lines. I appreciate you! If your experience sucks or if it's good, please say so in the body.

I would so appreciate this small gesture from member to member, and it would give the board a more cohesive feel and look.

Thanks !!
Toky

The Mod changed the subject line on one of my posts (the beginning one) which changed the question entirely.

I think as long as the poster keeps the main part the same and if need to add one word just for the purpose of that post or problem, ie.-MEDS123---Stolen package or MEDS123--Web Site down

I agree 100% about not changing the heart of the title thread but certainly a key word would alert us to something of importance.

Just a thought.
