I was sitting here deliberating about how under-treated most of us chronic pain patients are, and how to change it. I was wondering, is there a union or coalition of chronic pain sufferers established that would give us a collective voice ? Everything I've found seems geared only towards the treating physicians. I think it would be great to have a coalition of patients with an M.D. to review records and right to membership, with the ultimate goal of having lobbying power and visibility with assured credibility upon membership. Anyone have thoughts or knowledge of any current type of group ? The only concern I have is that the membership roster would probably be one-stop shopping for big brother to determine who to watch, but maybe I'm just being paranoid. Any input appreciated.....
*cross-posted on VIP board for visibility, hopefully not a problem*
There seems to be a problem with the page right now, but you can start here: http://www.doctordeluca.com/Library/Pain/HowPainIsUnderTreated.htm It's part of the same group.

I agree with you, sonick. I, for one am heartily sick of second-guessing myself every single second of every single day, silently taking an inventory of pain at the proper times, and dreading facing the pharmacist and or doctor.
Sometimes when I get mad enough, the adrenaline and my arrogance (I am VERY arrogant) take hold, and I say "To hell with all of them!" I can do this myself.
So long as I just sit here, getting up every 20 minutes.
I have a sitch I hesitate to post....i dontknow, maybe I'll PM a few people.
Now, as to Big Brother.
Big Brother is here, regardless of how we try to fly under the radar. So maybe we need to come up with something a little risky, that sounds a little cruel...
What do fellow sufferers that you come in contact with, do that really irks you, makes you think to yourself sarcastically, "Great! That's going to make it so much easier for me!"
I ask because if I recognize anything that I do, either while waiting or in the doctor's office, I'll be hurt anon., but maybe I will modify my behaviors accordingly.
Has anyone here ever looked up "Waddell" signs?
I will look and post links now that my friends here have taught me how.
Let's really put our heads together and see if we can't form our own unspoken little coalition first. Maybe then we will discover how much courage we have to go public. Whoops, almost wrote 'how much courage we have to go pubic.'
This is not HBO. This is Freeboard.
