I live in a small town, and almost ALL of my mail (packages) are torn at the corners. Mail person "looking" for something. My question is: would mailboxes, etc or some other company like it be good to use for international OP's? I am afraid to have anything sent to my house anymore!
Thanks!

First of all, tampering with mail is a felony offense.
The next time you get a package with the corners torn open (but not containing meds), I wouldn't accept it, but ask to speak with the local postmaster or manager of the post office about it. In other words raise holy heck about having your mail tampered with. If they don't do anything, I would file a complaint with the postal inspectors office. It might also be helpful to see if anyone in your town has had similar things happen to their packages or packages that don't arrive. It could be that someone is stealing mail or looking for something in the mail to steal.
Here is a link to a search page to find your closest postal inspectors office:

Now, about your original question, I really don't know, but I suspect that they would be good if you had a specific plan, such as rent one in a different town. I'm sure you have to provide ID and whatnot to get one, so it would still have your name on the packages.

They're great because they can legally sign for you, so for int'l orders requiring sig, you don't have to try and calculate when it'll arrive during the day so you can be home. They have a free call-in service so you can call to see if you have mail and packages and where they are from. Also, MBE provides a street address for those OPs that won't ship to PO boxes. It's only 10-12 bucks a month, so it might be worth it to ya. Also, so many people get packages, both domestic and international, that they probably wouldn't even blink at someone receiving a pkg from Europe or Thailand or Philippines....

Thanks for the info. Does anyone know if they are "nosy", asking questions about overseas pkgs?

It depends on the place--most are run by independent franchisees, so talk a little with the counter people to get a feel for their character. Most of the time it probably won't be a problem because they usually handle such a large amount of mail, both int'l and domestic, that they won't have time to scrutinize your packages...unless it's a real real small town, I'd feel pretty safe.
