The dark lines, or highlighted text, to show new posts is different in each color theme...
We all see the board in different ways depending on theme, browsers, PC color settings...
Members just have to try the color themes and use the ones they like best.

I don't know if it's a communication problem, or an operating system problem, or just what, but there seems to be some misunderstanding. The "stripes" have nothing to do with the color scheme/skin. It has to do with the new posts in each forum - every other thread with new posts in it has a very dark grey color rather than the usual very light color as the background. The dark grey "stripe" background color makes the title of the thread difficult to read.

Yes, I think the colors denoting new posts depend on what skin you're using.
I'm using Greenday, and new posts show up with alternating black or dark green bands with bright white letters. It's very easy for me to see all new posts.
When I use Blueocean, new posts alternate with dark grey or light bands with black letters. It is very hard for me to see the titles under the dark grey stripes, so now I understand the problems some people are having.
Those are the only two skins I've tried since the upgrade.

The color themes, or stylesheets, are the ones that determine what color each single pixel on the page looks like.
The theme called TheOriginal does not highlight new posts.

The VIP board doesn't have these stripes, it's far more comfortable to look at an index. So it's a software problem that DB should be able to solve for the free board, too.

We do not see a problem from here.
We see all color themes with very good definitions. We see the highlighted areas as transparent, and the text there can be easily read.
It looks perfect from our laptop and from the desktop too!
Those having problems will have to give more details, like the color theme they are using, operating system, browser and so on...
An image of your screen would be great.
The default color theme at the VIP board is called: Infopop
Ther default color theme at the Free board is called: Blue Ocean.
Bayerachim: Do you have the same color theme at both boards or are using the defaults?
Perhaps you should all take a look at the VIP board to compare :-)

FYI...I'm using Desert Large Font and new posts have a bright green line that I can see through perfectly, the writing is white so it's very easy to read.

I changed the colors of the Free Board to Greenday which is much more decent and easier to read. I suppose I had the default before. Thanks to everyone who contributed to solving the color problem.

I like it . It is alot brighter than the last one. But I was able to read that one good also. It seems to be easy to use with alot of good improvements and finding things right there. Keep up the good work!

Desert is nice but I prefer Blue Ocean. Very nice skin but that is Just Me as it uses the colors I like the most.
