and keep the animation? Does anybody have any ideas/suggestions on how to do this? I found a neat gif I like but can't get it to the right size to fit the board without losing the animation.

If you're good with Adobe Photoshop it can be done. But don't ask me I'm just learning how to use the magic paintbrush feature.

Legit...do you have a photoshop program like baddad says?
It's easy to transfer it over there and resize it.
PM me, you could email it to me and I can do it for ya if ya want!

Some .gif files do keep their full animations when using Photoshop. Some only keep 1 full animation movement. Some don't work at all.
Here is a good site to go to and try..........
Spinwave Image Cruncher

Thanks all, for the info and thanks Christy for offering to do it for me. I'll try some of the photoshop stuff out and see if I can get it to work, but like Bhamdave said, it might just be that the animation on this particular gif won't work at all. The animation is lightning in a snow globe, so I think it might just be too much movement.
Christy, if I don't have any luck I might kick it over to you.
Thanks again, I'll fiddle with it for a bit.

The graphics guys at work use photoshop to create animated gifs so there should be something that will let you keep the animation.

Not in regular Photoshop.......but in Photoshop Image Ready .
I resized my avatar in Image Ready and it seems to work fine.
Try it.

Thanks for the info. All I know is they use mostly adobe products at work. I take care of the harware and OS problems so I don't work with the editing software much.

Thank you so much bhamdave. The web attack link is great, I have downloaded two programs that should help reduce my gif. I'll let you know how it goes! Have you used Vikar?

Yes! What started out to be a small project turned into me converting all of my pictures on my laptop to smaller sizes. Vikar is a blast
