Good and interesting. The "Carson" pilot did not do a very good job of searching/detaining suspected packages. I did not calculate the numbers, but MOST were sent on to the addressee as required by law.
I doubt customs/USPS sorting centers will ever have enough staff to do much better.

FDA detains and refuses few mail imports for personal use. As a consequence, the tens of thousands of parcels that FDA does not review are eventually released by Customs and sent on to their addressees, even though the products contained in these parcels may appear to violate the FD&C Act and may pose a health risk to consumers.
You should see the a few of the national BMC's or Bulk Mail Centers. The U.S. Postal Police have catwalks with one-way mirrors wrapped all around the sorting center along with cameras and at least a few on-site uniformed local dept. police. I've seen these centers AND believe you me, it would be difficult to check out with something without someone taking notice.
Doesn't it just make you feel all warm and fuzzy to know how much our government loves us & is ALWAYS looking out for us. Really, THEY always know best!
