I know what most of the Acronyms actually stand for. But what does "BIR" stand for. I know it means waiting on a order but can't find what the letters mean.

"Billing Information Received" When an order is going to be shipped with UPS, it's when the shipping label has been created, but UPS hasn't picked up the package yet. There are times when a shipment sits with a BIR status for days or weeks at a time. . .hence the phrase we occasionally see: "My meds are in BIR Hell!"
If you have any other questions, just ask. I still run into acronyms that make me tilt my head and say, "Huh?"
Take Care,
Erin

Buried in REMORSE.
Back in Rehab.
Billing Information received
Take your pick!
Answer: Someone went to their keyboard and made up a label for UPS/Fedex to pickup a shipment to you.
Heres the catch...they can ship your order WHENEVER they want. Sometimes that day sometimes never.
They should rename it: KYFC (keeping your fingers crossed)

okay, thanks. One more question :
Is BIR the same as "Received By Pharmacy"?
Or is "Received By Pharmacy" one step better than BIR?
Here is an example:
Step 1. Recieved By XXX O.P. YES
Step 2. Approved By Doctor YES
Step 3. Received By Pharmacy YES
Step 4. Shipped NOT YET

"DH" usually refers to your husband...I remember seeing it on a parenting board once. So, whoever wrote that post was saying her "dear husband" ordered from them.

Received by pharmacy could be better or worse than BIR, depending on the site. In my experience, when my order moves to received by pharmacy, my tracking number comes along almost immediately. Then I stay in BIR for anywhere between 4 days and a month, and I have to take a valium to calm my nerves until the order actually ships.

I already have a tracking number for 4 days now. I called UPS and they havent recieved the shipment yet. I just wanted to know if I am in "BIR hell" yet? Because it sure feels like it.

No offense Pop Zeus, but it's not UPS's fault if OPs create a label for a pkg and then don't drop it off for delivery until 5 days later.

It has NOTHING to do with UPS. I could sit down at my PC and make up labels all day and never send a thing out. UPS is called when I say it's ready not the other way around.
Totally off topic, left field question. Does anyone elses cursor jump around to different spots when typing in the reply box? Maybe it's just my laptop?

no offense taken...it sounds like you guys are correct about UPS as it relates to BIR.
ever since i've been visiting this message board i hear people complaining so much about UPS' service and response time, etc. i thought this was another example of why people shouldn't use UPS, but it seems it's an example of why people shouldn't use these particular OPs instead. BIR is b.s. if you're a business then most likely you have UPS and Fedex trucks coming by your building daily - there's no excuse for your packages to just sit there SOL.
if you do a search for UPS topics on here, you'll find that there is way more complaining and troubles associated with UPS's service than with Fedex. i've only used Fedex from several different ROPs and have had only success and excellence from them...so i'm biased towards Fedex i guess.
at any rate, sorry for the confusion - i understand now why BIR is not on UPS's hypothetical shoulders.

FROM THE UPS WEBSITE:
I've been tracking my package, but it's not moving. Why?
Package movement information is captured each time a tracking label is scanned in the UPS delivery system. When your package is in transit, or over a weekend, tracking information may not be updated. Here are explanations for common scans you might see when tracking your package:
* Billing Information Received: UPS has received the electronic transmission of package detail from the shipper. It does not necessarily mean that UPS has taken possession of the package.
* Origin: The package has been received at the originating UPS location.
* Departure: The package has left the originating location and is on its way toward the destination address.
* Arrival: The package has arrived at an intermediate UPS facility or the destination facility closest to the delivery address.
* Out for Delivery: The package has been placed in the final delivery vehicle.
* Delivery: The package has been delivered. The date and time of delivery have been recorded.
* Exception: If the package could not be delivered or was delayed, the reason has been noted.
