Right on BamaChica. That is the truth except I'm not sure about the issue of the scripts coming from the same doctor. Regardless it's probably not a good idea to practice this type of ordering.

I certainly have NO SYMPATHY at all for this moron in the article (now facing 25 years in prison) for WRITING HIS OWN SCRIPTS for 18,000 pills in one year!!
I don't care if they were all for his own consumption- he got what he deserved.
There are better ways to treat pain problems than to resort to what he did.

It isn't that cut and dry because this guy is claiming that he had been seeing this doctor for years and after moving to another state, he could not find any doctors to treat him adaquately. He says he traveled back and forth to his old doctor to be treated and that the doctor was giving him several prescriptions at a time to last him until he traveled back to see him.
It wasn't until the DEA flagged the doctor that the doctor claimed he had never written the scripts and the guy "must have stolen the pad". It wasn't like the doctor reported his prescription pad missing and then they went after the guy. Who knows what the truth is?
I honestly believe this guy. He must be able to prove he was flying back and forth to see this doctor. I don't know. I think the doctor just put all the blame on the patient instead of admitting that he was helping a man who couldn't get the treatment he needed in the state he lived in. And people wonder why doctors won't write scripts for pain meds. When they do they get investigated, which is fine, they just have to be able to back it up. And if they have any balls at all they would just say, "Look, the guy is suffering. Here are is MRI's, Xrays, and my diagnosis. I prescribed what I, as a professional deemed necessary". But, instead most will just not write scripts and not have to stand up for what they know is right. Better to do nothing than have to defend themselves later.

This post is a little off topic but about the pharmacies we use.
I was getting a refill from United Presription Services, United-rx and looked around the website and found the SquareTrade stamp/symbol on the website. The above link is for the squaretrade site.
It is reassuring to read this website, which states that the pharmacy and pharmacits are licensed and that basically they do everything by the books. This means that if you use a ROP that uses them, like Fedexmeds.com, you have nothing to worry about because for them to ship your order they must have a valid prescription. This doesnt clear up the hot topic of doctor-patient relationship, but if something were to come up your script is totally valid.
Just some FYI stuff.

I have a question, Lets say you order 60 -10/325 from nrop1 with Dr.Kavorkion name on it 4 days later you order same from nrop2 with Dr.K. on that script also and then 5 days later you order same from nrop3 with good old Dr. K..And you get them all. Is this DD or TD or do they give a s%it? Lanaa
My best guess would be that Dr. Kavorkion is a doctor that probably passed away in the early 1900's...

This guy getting 25 years for this crime is about as fair as someone beating you up for having that opinion. The opinion doesn't offend me, but if you think alcohol and tobacco should be legal your arguement is inconsistent and shows your lack of knowlege of the subject. You can say well alcohol prohibition didn't work, well the drug war is working out even worse, you can get most illegal drugs in most major cities in the US and can get schedule 3 and 4 drugs online easier than buying a dvd player from amazon.com. You also obviously know nothing about prison and how it works there, especially if you are going thru withdrawl. Alcohol is also much more dangerous than almost all of the illegal drugs, and tobacco is more addictive than any other illegal drug and it kills more people each year than all the illegal drugs do, % wise as well. If you agree with making all dangerous drugs illegal (alcohol and tobacco) than you have a valid arguement, otherwise you should start reading some information on the subject, www.drcnet.org opioids.com www.drugwarfacts.com And remeber, not evenyone knows about US OPS, not everyone can get the medicine they need to help their pain. Its a lot easier to judge people, but just imagine if the DEA outlawed all opiates/opioids. Would you break the law so you wouldn't be in pain? What if your pain was so bad that you would rather die than experience it. If you do take pain meds why not miss a day to see how all the people that can't get the drugs legally or illegally, and pretend that your pill bottle is a drug dealer, how many days would it take for you to buy drugs from your dealer the bottle. This guy wasn't selling the drugs, he just had a really high tolerence. The fact you think he deserves 25 years or more shows that you really need to read up, its not the 50's anymore man. People get less time for rape, child molesting, murder, yet this was a victimless crime. Maybe the reason he was scripting was cause the dr wasn't giving him enough. Your really quick to judge, are you a cop by chance?

All the guy being charged has to do is show the courts his travel reciepts and he has something to go on. Also, if he stayed in any hotels during his stay, he could use that as well. If he lost all of that stuff, then he wasn't a very smart guy.
Even though this doesn't prove the doctor actually saw him, it would lead to further investigations. I didnt' follow this story completely, so did this guy already do this stuff or ?

I had a pain doc that I traveled from Bama to Atlanta to see usually once every two or sometimes three months. Some narcotics can not be written with refills so he would send me home with 2 or 3 scripts of each prescription(depending on when he wanted me back) BUT they were dated appropriately. I.E.- They would say "Do not fill before 4/11/05. The ones that would allow a refill, he would just give me the appropriate refill amount. This man was a true pain doc in every since of the word. He knows how to treat pain and isnt afraid to do it. He keeps meticulous records and extensive documentation on his chronic pain sufferers. He knew exactly how much he could or couldent write to throw up red flags and he would always go right up to that line. He knew which meds would be cheaper and still be as effective. He was extremely compassionate as I did not have insurance and he would charge me what I could pay. Yall may have seen me mention him before and how he saved my life because I found him online and was in great despair when i emailed him about having no insurance and little money but in extreme pain and he wrote me back and said if you can get a referral, I will work with you on everything else and he did for almost 2 years until I settled w/ work comp and made the work comp people pay the bills for the doc/meds now.But to tell you the truth, this work comp doc couldent hold a candle to my old pain doc. This work comp doc prescribes all her pain patients the same thing, same strength and same count, all compounded, not to save our livers but in her words " to make the street value worth zero" What an insult. You have to deal with it or quit the work comp program. Another one of their tricks to get rid of ya.But dont get me wrong, I am grateful to have a pain doctor because there was a time when I had no doctor at all.
If anyone is near or doesnt mind driving to Atlanta, PM me and I will give you the name, number and web address of the best darn pain doc I have ever seen or heard of.
But back on subject it is not considered double dipping if the scripts are written out that one can be filled now, the next in 30 days and the 3rd one 30 days after that. I would just take the whole lot of the scripts to my pharmacy and my man there would keep it all in order. Methadone was what he gave me as my main pain med, as much and as strong as I could take it at first to get the pain under control, then we brought it down some. Percocet for break thru, up to 4 per day (yes 4)and in the strength where I could get the generic because brand perc's are expensive. Soma 3 per day for muscle relaxing and Xanax .10 three per day for all the anxiety/insomnia. that combo right there would make alot of people on here virtually pain free. It did me. It was wonderful. It all worked in a way in which I could still be able to function though I did not work and would not be taking them all if I had to drive on a daily basis. I would just have to cut back on the muscle relaxant and xanax on the days I would drive to Atlanta which took about an hour and a half each way.
I wrote a book on the subject just now but he did many patients this way because they came from all around to see him. traveled many miles. He helped those who needed it the most and not based on which insurance they have or how much money they gave. He even helped some to get into those programs which helped pay for the meds too. My hubby made too much money at the time for me to be eligible for that. He had the biggest, largest TENS unit I have ever seen. Pads as big as ping pong paddles. He would hook me up on that thing laid out on a massage table for my whole visit because the traveling was so hard on me.
PM for info if you want it. If you can get the referral in, your set. He WILL do everything in his power to help chronic pain sufferers and specializes in Fibro, CFS, PTSD, Vulvar pain syndrome, restless leg and failed back syndrome which I have every last one of them plus TMJ. Now yall can see why I was at the end of my rope. I was about to give up when I did a search for chronic pain doctors and found his web page and something inside me told me that he sounded so compassionate on his website and to email him and ask for help.
