You condemn Rush, He is one of you in pain. Now he understands...why don't you give compassion to him, as you want for your pain. As many people don't understand how much we will do to be pain free, Rush understands now. Try to get him on your side, rather than admonish him. He has more power because of the media, than most of us. I feel that many would care for his pain, if you didn't dislike his politics. What a great chance for him, to get on board with people in pain.

That was my point. I hope he understands now. Instead of calling everyone that self medicate themselves drug addicted trash, I hope he now has a bit more compassion. He did bring alot of heat down on us with his high profile status though. Although I was a fan of his for a long time and I still agree with alot of what he says, I always hated when he oversimplified things like this. Thats all I meant.

As far as I know, Rush wasn't in pain. He took painkillers to get high - big difference.

Things can be simplified because of the drudgery involved with stating what is obvious and assumed, [censored] ups in linguistics and communication, but also out of human laziness. It is one thing to condemn a person, and it is another thing to condemn their actions.

As far as I know Rush does have back problems but when he started taking narcotics he became both physically and psychologically dependent on them.

He has a lot of exposure. I would love to see him come out and say, let's get people working even if that means medicating them.

it ain't about oxy at all, fellas ... those who exposed Limbaugh on the oxy thing had ulterior motives for doing that (they were not successful) now, we're taking up this oxy thing and are trying to figure out why this and why that ... you know, the last person on earth that would care about changing the way things are with respect to prescription meds (although it may affect him to a certain extent -- didn't eat him up, though) is Rush Limbaugh and the class he's part of (sorry for employing unconventional language, but I had to!) The point I'm making is that we should not focus on him to figure out what's good and what's bad about precription pills policies in the US, in fact when we do so the issue becomes blurred and we just get more confused about the whole thing.

So you're proposing a grass-roots movement, if I get you correctly, are you not?

I hate to burst your bubble ,but this has been going on for many years, including the Clinton years .You can blame just a few but in reality there are thousands of abusers.Pain meds have been a target for a long time. You should blame the AMA for their lobbying practices. They make policies that politicians accept donations.

Ok, I haven't been keeping up with Rush lately. It seems to me he should be promoting the plight of pain patients, instead of his eerie silence on the subject.
Let's see; he was in pain and needed narcotics, but he got addicted, then busted, so he became un-addicted, and is now a good boy, but still in pain, but taking the narcotics only as directed by his doctor. Do I have this right?
Well, that's understandable, really. What about the rest of us? If we little people are labled drug abusers will we ever get the proper medical treatment again? The last I heard, Rush's only advocacy on our part, is to defend the doctor/patient privacy. He has the mighty soapbox, why doesn't he help out the people who, like himself, are suffering and being proscecuted and persecuted for it?

I will respond tomorrow..I am too tired and hurting now..you are partly right..partly wrong..I will answer this later. The BIG TIME DEFENSE being put on by him is a BIG TIME thing to ALL patients EVERYWHERE!!! "The Doctor/Patient Relationship"...ALL of us together would not and probably could not..do for ourselves..what we pray Rush will...just with this! Think about it..it HAS happened "by happen-stance"...but I'll take it NO matter how we get it..I sure hope he prevails!! You had better too!!

The drug war sucks, even Rush who's opinions contradict his actions shouldn't have to jump thru hoops to get chemicals he wants. The same goes for everyone. Alcohol and tobacco are the 2 most dangerous drugs, prohibition is causing more harm than legalization would just like during the 20's. Al Capone or Pablo Escobar, same game plan, different outcome. If this countries schools and media didn't brainwash people from a child til an adult they would realize that drugs arean't as bad if they are affordable. Just look at methadone, its considered to be just as good as most pain meds by many yet you don't see people at methadone clinics robbing to get their money to pay each week, and if they are poor they can use welfare. For IV y opiate users they could easily fix the problem with bands that moniter the heart rate and administer narcan when it goes under a certain bpm, the same with coke and crack instead they could use diazepam when the heart goes over a certain bpm and of course they could give a 5 hour class about drugs before you could legally use them so people know what is really true about drugs. This would greatly reduce the amount of ODs and even if more people used drugs, it wouldn't be as bad as the millions plus in prison for drug crimes. I am going off on a rant, but like the old saying goes "I don't agree with what you say, but I will fight to the death for your right to say it" the same with drug use.

TwG..
I must tell you..you and I are on nearly the same page..this whole deal has gotten so terribly warped and so completely out of hand..the "proper authorities",which now seems to include EVERY govt flunky no natter how insignificant their role in ANYTHING is,includes everybody EXCEPT ME!!..It just doesn't include me!..THEY and the politicos who enable these terribly misguided, power seeking at ALL costs bumblers ..have made this country a place where everyone can get to be a criminal somehow or another just by simply living here! Going about your business peacefully and quietly daily in the the finest country in the entire world is NOW set up to make ALL people here..a criminal..somehow or another, someway! It doesn't have to have ANYTHING to do with drugs..it can be anything..the list is literally ENDLESS!!! Most of "the proper authorities" as they INSIST on calling themselves ALL THE TIME..are very, very often proven to be some of the worst as far as criminal activity is concerned. This is all just CRAZY!! And..do not think the American Public isn't noticing this. Most of them waaay too slowly and too late I am sad to report but they ARE becoming aware(a start of sorts). At least well read, informed and somewhat aware types know it ALL too well. Well,I could go on and on forever..but I wanted to tell you that you have as far as I am concerned..made a very pertinent post indeed! Good for you..and thank you!!! It is so nice to see an aware person speakup..it helps to not feel so alone in this bizarre situation. I'll stop there as I am treading very dangerous ground in the America of today. So sad but so very true.

Isn't Rush the one who coined the phrase, "We live at a time when everything is illegal and nothing is wrong." ? Whoever it was who first said it, they are exactly right on. The ideal situation (for the elite) is to have a population of dumb (re public education, TV) felons (can't vote, can't have a gun, must be under someone's thumb at all times). They've just about got this country sewed up, and the people are not just allowing it to happen, they are actively engaged in self-destruction.
