Will Vicodin show up on standard ua test for Pre-op?
      #225993 - 02/17/05 02:01 PM

Hi..
I'm having minor surgery and need a pre-op. A CDC, CBC, UA and EKG...Its tomorrow. I just took 2 vidodin for this lousy sports injury. This doc is new. I just moved to LA. Would rather not tell him I took it. (Actually got it from my mother).
I'm been told it will not come up in the standard work-up anyway, that they have to test for it...
Is this true?..I don't think I get at "drug test" in a standard pre-op...

Don't worry, they're looking for other things with those tests. Just make sure you get something for the post-op pain. And keep squeezin' that morphine button! Best of luck, please cease worrying about the testing. It's counterproductive.

if they do a standard U/A on you, it wont show the vicodin. They would have to do a UDS (urine drug screen), which isnt common for preop. Im an RN, so i have experince with this. No worries!
