I am curious, how well established does my condition need to be in order to be perscribed effective medication for my needs?I have only been to the doctor about 5 times for my cronic back pain, and they won't perscribe anything that works.I have been working construction for 17 years, over the last 3 years I have been developing cronic back and neck pain due to years of heavy duty work. The pain has proggressively gotton worse over the years to where in the evenings I can hardly stand the anymore. In the past I have just delt with it because it wasn't as severe, and I had no insurance.I would like to use 1st meds, but don't want to waste my money if they won't perscribe, my pain is real, and I don't know what to do. I finally got government funded insurance this year but it is only accepted in two places in my area , and those places are extreemly causious about perscribing the meds I need to maintain a normal lifestyle. Any advise on what to do would be greatly appreciated.
P.S. if my spelling sucks just remember I'm just a lowly construction man.

I was just told a few days ago that 1stmeds aren't doing consults at this time. They referred me to another site.

I was looking for feedback regarding 1stmed myself because they seem to be the only OP that carries Tussionex. I have plenty of documentation on my condion when seeing my PCP about my cough due to sinus problems (especially this time of year.) My cough causes stress incontinence and trouble being able to do my job because I am a teacher and must speak, sometimes for long periods of time, which I cannot currently do due to the cough. I can only speak for short periods of time.

darecurtis, there is no such thing as a "lowly" construction man. Without us, people wouldn't have a place to live. That's a pretty honorable trade, if you ask me.

Even if you do end up having to order online, don't give up on your local Drs. writing you a script that insurance will cover. If you keep bugging them they will eventually have to. Don't you hate an uncooperative Doctor after sitting in a waiting room forever? The only thing worse than an uncooperative Doctor is a patient that is a pain in the behind. Don't take NO for an answer!
When I get a script from my local Dr, the med co-pay is usually under $15. Good Luck! J~

Hi,
If I was in you're position I may continue to use OP's, and continue to have and develop a relationship with a local Doctor.

For over two years I have sufferrred cronic pain. It has been treated intermittently. The original Doctor who did the surgery tried every therapy known to man to help relieve the pain. My PCP was of no help whatsoever.

I have been a member of DB for many years but never used an Op. Until recently when I was finally abandoned by my Doctor. (The one who did the surgery. He basically said there is nothing else I can do. Yet my quality of life was down the toilet.

I decided to take matters in my own hand. I continued to use an OP. Had to. Which I was very greatful for. But they are very expensive. I pay 15,000 a year for family health coverage and I'm paying an OP top dollar for some relief.

So I hire a new PCP, refered to a pain specialist. Now it's been a few months working with them. They have been great. I developed a relationship where they cared about me and my quallity of life. I'm not knocking OP's , but let's face it markups over the 200% mark are outright thieves.

Anyway , God willing this will be the last month having to use op's. My local PM Doc is willing to relieve the pain with one of the strongest meds and back that up with a healthy script for breakout pain. The face to face helps to build up a caring environment.

I know a lot of you have been treated lousy by you're local Doc's , but there are Docs out there that write the proper meds, that arent scared to give you the stronger meds if warranted. I just had to put in the footwork. The records and the time has to be put in. This is only my opinion. I started to work on finding a local Doc after hearing about changes in the law that would basically shut down the OP's. I was not going to be put in a position of more suffering. So I just worked and did all I could to find the right Doc. They are out there.

I cannot tell you how happy I am that they have seen my problem, how it effects the quality of my life, and are willing to step it up. God Bless Them. Thank you for listening to my ramblings.
Best Regards,
Hoop

Unfortunately, some of us live in truly medievial areas where getting good medical treatment simply doesn't exist. OPs are often our only choice. I've been through 3 doctors in my area (in just 6 months) and not one was willing to deal with my multiple medical conditions with anything even approaching compassion. Since being dropped by my last doctor (because I am seen as difficult because I refuse to take certain meds like anti-depressants....when I don't suffer from depression at all), I've called almost every doctor's office in the area, only to be told said doctor will not deal with this condition or that condition. Now, I'm just looking for one who will do physicals, and get almost all my meds online. Not having insurnace means I am not paying twice. What I would be spending in overpriced insurance, actually goes towards me being pro-active about my health online. Never had any real problems with the online pharmacy system as the doctors are far more compassionate then the real life ones I've seen in the past. For some of us, this is the only choice we have for quality medical care, especially in areas that still see blood letting as a viable form of treatment!!

I placed and order with http://www.1stmeds.com 4-19-04, since I didn't get the promised email with in the 24 hours giving me the number to call for a consult, I cancelled my order on 4-20-04. 2 days later (4-22-04)my credit card was charged the $130.00 consult fee. I have emailed the customer service address at their site NUMEROUS times (25 to be exact) with absolutley NO response. I called customer service, and waited on hold for 15 minutes to be told, I had contacted the wrong place and they couldn't (more like wouldn't)help I needed to email them at the address given on their website.

It has been a WELL KNOWN fact that those DIRTBAGS have been RIPPING people off ever since last year. Make sure and do your HOMEWORK before ordering.

Do a chargeback on your credit card as quickly as possible and report them to the better business bureau and move on.

I am surprised that they are still scamming people.

Iv always had good service with 1stmeds.com I’m ordering again, I heard on another board that a member of the customer service staff called ‘Jean’ was sacked Due to not replying to emails, they have since replaced her, maybe that person was the cause of you not getting an email from them. I have sent many messages and all have been replied to, however once I didn’t get a reply back from jean, maybe things are looking up with the new staff,

I ordered from them a few weeks back, had to email a query and got a reply within about half hour - not from Jean! Must be her that was the problem
Glad it's sorted!

Hoop: I know what it feels like to be dropped by a physician. After going through 1.5 years of breast cancer reconstruction, my plastic surgeon left me saying there was no more he could do for me. He dropped me with one breast being twice as large as the other and misshapen, chronic pain and in need of much pain relief.
I, too, have since found a PM doc and another surgeon who has "fixed" me with two simple surgeries (and one more to go). Nuff said.........

A TERRIBLE place to do business. I got a consult and the doc Ok'd my medication, but then the pharmacy refused to fill it. They did NOTHING to inform me of this, and all the while I was expecting my medication. So I went on the site and it said "order cancelled". I called CS and after about a half hour wait the person said that I could not get a refund of the $130 because I had the consult and the doc had approved it, so I was not entitled to a refund. They claim that the doc ordered it, but the pharmacy did not fill it. Now whatever their internal problems are is it MY fault the pharmacy wouldnt fill the prescription? Their site states that if the doc refuses to prescribe meds youre entitled to a refund. But the person on the phone said the doc approved it, but it was cancelled so technically I owe them for the consult. Now WTF is the difference? I did not get my meds and wasnt even told of the cancellation, if they HAD told me, I would have gotten service from another OP. So I ran out of meds that ive been legally prescribed for years and cannot be suddenly stopped, without the possibilty of seizures, which can be fatal. They put my very life at risk, at the very least they should have informed me that they were unable to fill it. Now what if I had a seizure and died because of these peoples horrible, insensitive and downright unethical and dangerous business practices. They would have my $130 while I would be "chilling it out" in the morgue. An absolutely despicable site, and should be taken of DrugBuyers.com before they actually kill someone if they havent already.

Before I joined this site, I had ordered from them. I was charged for a consult I never got. I wrote them daily for over 2 months, then chalked it up to experience and forgot about it.

Much to my surprise, I received an email outta the blue, from this new guy. He apologized and immediatley credited my account for the entire $120.00. It was rather astounding to tell ya the truth.

But now I have records, and have seen the ratings of best to worst, and would not use them again. Unfair, maybe. But the time I spent emailing, and trying to make my bank balance, balance, was my time wasted. And nothing anyone can say will bring that time back.

Are there any 1stmeds customers out there having problems getting their refill?? I have been waiting since 1/8/04 for my refill, the pharmacy (Hollywood Pharmacy) has been saying for 5 days that my medication is not available. I have NEVER had problems with 1stmeds when they were using Jen-Mar (excellent pharmacy). Might be time to find a new OP.

I am interested hear from any 1stmeds customers.

Thanks in advance!

I've been ordering pain meds from 1stmeds for about a year. To my surprise, when I wanted to order a refill they had me confused with a women(I'm a man) told me they didn't have my records, which I faxed a while a go and had to settle for a lesser medication because I needed pain medication. I couldn't wait until 3 days for somebody to figure it out. They sure didn't confuse when it came to taking the consultation fee.

Well, status finally changed to "order shipped", but they will probably screw me and not send it Saturday delivery like I asked them to. They are going down hill and since this is my last refill I think I will go elsewhere from now on. The other problem I have is on their order status page they state when they are sending you emails with updates and tracking numbers, but I have never gotten one email from them. They used to post the tracking numbers on the order status page so I would at least have a way to track my package, but now they don't post them and I don't get their emails. Guess I'll be calling Fedex, I hate wasting people's time when I shouldn't have to.

Thanks to those who have replied. Wish me luck! And good luck to you mapekada, sounds like you have worse problems with them than I do. Thinking about switching to NWW.

Thanks, Missy
