How much do you spend on prescription drugs?
      #222456 - 02/05/05 07:10 PM

I was just curios about how much people pay for prescription drugs per month? Does your health insurance cover any part of it?

Trey

I am fortunate in that other than ordering valium from OP4L I really don't need any Rx drugs except Lumigol for eye condition. These do NOT come generic and would cost me $125 for a miniscule bottle that would last me a month. Have Rx card though thru United Federation of Teachers Union - copay = $5.00 for brand name. When I retire though will cost me more - and have to do mail order. Other than opthalmologist - avoid MD's like the plague - as in if it's not broken don't even think about looking or trying to fix it!

I've never really thought about this much. Guess I just spend for meds as needed. But it has given me much to think about. If I add in the consult, divided by the number of months with refills, my monthly payment is about $160.00.

Looking at it that way ... seems huge! Ewwww!

About $30/mo average online, about $160/mo at Walgreen's w/insurance, some copays $10, others $30, others $50.

My doctor prescribes pretty much whatever I ask for, within reason. He's so busy I swear he doesn't even know who I am and has been seing me for 7 years!

Also, no 30-day waits at Walgreen's for refills for pain medication, they are on an as-needed basis.

That does not include my Significant Other, another $100/mo at Walgreen's, plus of course about $200/mo for supplements, vitamins, etc.

Getting old sucks!

OK, I've told, how much do you spend, Trey?

Somewhere around $80 (give or take) after insurance locally. One I take that can only be filled every 3 months is $120 a pop, also depends on migraines and such acute issues.

I spend over 200.00 a month on scripts and I have pretty good INS. with a 5-30$ copay...I get a lot of scripts however my Dr. allows me more than the 180 per month my INS covers therfor I have to pay the other 60 pills out of pocket.

I must be doing something wrong or my whole body has just decided to collapse at once. I probably pay about 4-6 hundred a month not including copays for procedures, specialists etc. they always make me come back 2-4 weeks and the tests are endless. Good luck to all of you and who ever stated getting old sucks....I feel you
