I tried to get them early, and now I think i've made the pharmacist suspisious (well, I know I have, cause this isn't the first time I've done this) soooo, just kinda feeling depressed and lost..............

Hello Rebecca,

Are you taking Hydro now for pain or because of addiction? If you are in long term chronic pain, Hydrocodone is not the answer. Hydro is for short term acute use due to its ups and downs.

If you are still taking for pain, you might better be served to seek out a Pain Mgmt. Clinic, and/or discuss the matters with your current doc.

If you taking due to addiction issues, then you might seek some addiction help in your local area.

If I were you, I'd go and be HONEST with your doc. Tell him the TRUTH. The truth will set you free, and I've found when I'm 100% truthful with my doc, the relationship gets much better.

Good luck to you.

rebecca, I don't really have any great advice for you, I just wanted to post so you knew you had a friend here. I really do feel your pain though and understand where you are you are coming from.

One question, do you use OPs or are you prescribed meds by a local doc?

Hi... and thank you! I am getting my hydros from my neurosurgeon (84 - 14 days) but my next visit with him will be my last. Then what do I do? I've never ordered from an OP for fear that my husband will freak out (he's the kind of person who takes an asprin once a year) or that instead of my package, police officers will be at my door!! I've thought of having my doctor refer me to "pain management" but I'm not sure how that works either. Do they actually prescribe stuff or is it more of a "live with the pain" kind of motto?
Thanx again for the kind words!

Don't want to contradict you, but the mods probably will.. As much as I personally think the issue is a valid subject, here is what the rules of the board have to say:

"Addiction and recovery are not to be discussed at our board. If you need help with addiction and recovery this is not a board for you."

Just thought I would point that out. There are other places that discuss this terrible problem. I wish only the best to anyone in this situation and if I can be of any help please PM me..

Regards,
Gandalf

NO No no....
A pain management clinic (or doc) is a place where they will talk with you regarding your pain, and try all different therapies to get you to where you should be. You DO have to be honest w/them tho. U've gotta tell them what you are currently taking, how much and IF it really is working for ya. They will (usually) start w/things like physical therapy, tens units, etc... it really depends upon your type of pain. They DONT want you to live with it thats why they are there. As for OP's if you are going to use one, u should start gettin your records now, so that you have them when it is time. It usually takes a while to get them, I had to wait like 8 weeks... OR -if your gonna go the 'no records' route, it gets a little more 'grey' and confusing... and expensive! I would suggest talkin w/your hubby - but only YOU know if that is the right thing or not? OP's are not against the law, and NO police will be showing up at your door hon, dont worry!!
Hope this helps a little
Bamboo
(sorry, Gandalf just saw your post, I wasn't aware of that, and think she wasn't either, Rebecca why don't u PM me and we'll talk further, dont want any trouble w/the mods here)

Wow, I did not realize that there aren't addiction issues allowed here. Wow. Most boards allow the discussions/help/tapering/withdrawal, etc. issues to be discussed openly.

Thanks for this info, Gandalf.

I don't want to give the wrong advice or cause any problems for anyone with the mods, but since the thread has sorta taken a different turn with discussion of OPs and pain clinics, could Rebecca just change the title of this thread?
