First off, I am not a doctor, and 2nd, individuals vary a bit too much in their responses to different benzos for me to comment much.
I suggested Klonopin because out of all the benzos it's the one I see most often recommended for your problem. The main difference from Valium is that Valium has an extremely long half-life, plus it has an active metabolite which lasts in your body for up to several days. Heavy stuff. Klonopin has a faily long half-life, so it can be taken just once or twice daily, but not nearly as long as Valium.
Any of these drugs are going to be very difficult for you to get off of, given what you wrote in your first posts about predeliction towards addiction, and I suggest you try more alternatives before using benzos without a doctors supervision.--
I would have to disagree with one part of this (just disagree, not say you're wrong ) Klonopin is most often prescribed for seizures or psychiatric conditions. It's half-life is on the order of 30-60 hours! Temazepam (Restoril) is primarily for insomnia (half-life of 8-20 hours) . By the way, it's a metabolite of Valium, oddly enough. Others include triazolam (Halcion; half-life of 1.505 hours), flurazepam (Dalmane; half life of 1-4 hours, but there's a metabolite that may or may not be active that stays around for a while), and very occasionally, midazolam (Don't know the trade name; half-life of 1-4 hours).

My mother says people dont get tolerance to anti-depressants nor do they withdrawal. I personally think thats a bunch of balony...wouldnt one withdrawal from any chemical, including anti-depressants? Please someone clear this up for me.
As I said, I don't really want to comment further as I am neither a doctor nor an expert. But I have to address your mother's definite mis-information re: withdrawal from SSRI's. This is quoted from rxlist.com:
Quote:
Discontinuation of Treatment with LEXAPRO
During marketing of Lexapro and other SSRIs and SNRIs (Serotonin and Norepinephrine Reuptake Inhibitors), there have been spontaneous reports of adverse events occurring upon discontinuation of these drugs, particularly when abrupt, including the following: dysphoric mood, irritability, agitation, dizziness, sensory disturbances (e.g., paresthesias such as electric shock sensations), anxiety, confusion, headache, lethargy, emotional lability, insomnia, and hypomania. While these events are generally self-limiting, there have been reports of serious discontinuation symptoms.
Patients should be monitored for these symptoms when discontinuing treatment with LEXAPRO. A gradual reduction in the dose rather than abrupt cessation is recommended whenever possible. If intolerable symptoms occur following a decrease in the dose or upon discontinuation of treatment, then resuming the previously prescribed dose may be considered. Subsequently, the physician may continue decreasing the dose but at a more gradual rate (see DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION).
I know next to nothing about Restoril, but it being a benzodiazepine, I'd assume it causes dependance as do the others.
Good luck, I hope you are able to fix all this - since it's going to be a big issue for you in the immediate future, I suggest you spend some time reading about the problems you've been diagnosed with, and the different treatments for them. Then talk about it with your doctor some more, armed with information, if you feel you are not getting the proper medication/treatment.
I have had HORRIBLE withdrawls from BOTH PAXIL & PAXIL CR. i was in bed sicker than a dog for 2 weeks then took 2 months to get my head back to feeling normal. My doctor has always told me there isnt tolerance/withdrawls to anti- depressents which si what everyone always tells me but they are horribly wrong.

I have been using a few brands of generic valiums for some time.
This week I switched to Roche.
IMO Roche is better by far, I wish I had not been so cheap and bought generics. I will never go back to generic valiums.
Roche all the way.

I have used Roche brand, Mylan generic, Barr, and several other US generic brands (all 10 mg.) and have never noticed
any difference in quality/potentcy. But that's just me, I don't doubt that many of you do notice a difference in potentcy between different manufacturers' products. Go figure.
Peace,

International roche, Not v-cuts.
I will also state I think a couple of popular vendors on this site have crappy generic valiums. Not going to say who because I think they are good sites...just low quality valiums.
I would tend to agree that american made generic valiums are ok. I meant IOP generics in my above post not american generics. Sorry about that.

Has anyone here tried injecting valium? I had some 2ml vials and gave it a try... it burned like hell! I've never shot anything up before, so I was wondering if I was just doing something wrong...?

I was injected with vallium many times in ER due to spasms. It's usually given IM but if they had a line in would do IV. Never burned. But by that time I usually had 20mg of MS into me also.
IV = 2 minute effect, IM = 10 min come on. The best thing for muscle spasms.
Personally, I dont mind waiting the 30-40 min for an oral dose to take effect - but 10mg IV or IM seems stronger

I meant to say that I had the ampules, not vials -which are a little harder to work with. They are Roche brand, and within the expiration date, but the times I've tried it, I've never felt it. I first used an insulin syringe intramuscularly, but it didn't work well at all. I think valium is more viscous than insulin solutions, because it didn't want to go up in the needle.
After a couple of failed attempts, I turned to the internet to get "real" syringes. I am sort of a queasy person, so I bought the needles with the smallest gauge number, not realizing that smaller #'s = fatter needles. Now these suckers were BIG, and I have SMALL veins! The last time I had surgery, they had to use a pediatric needle to start an IV.
Still wanting to "play doctor," I practiced trying to stick the needle in a vein. A few times, I was able to draw blood up through the syringe, so I thought I knew what I was doing. When I tried to inject intravenously, however, it burned, burned, burned!!!! A knot developed at the site of injection, and it felt like I had been hit in the arm. Ouch!
Needless to say, I will now only take valium per os!

the only time i have ever been given Valium or ever taken Valium was in the ER and they gave me a shot in the butt...i never felt like it did anything for the spasams i was having but thats just me. i am taking Baclofen for all that along with Avinza and percs for breakthrough and all this is helping alot with my fibro. But i have noticed with the Avinza that i am getting dull headaches but they say my body needs to adjust and if i am still getting them when i go back to my pain doc they will change it to OC's.

Can someone advise me the best place for valium or temazepam? I have used Valium up til now, but it's really to help me sleep so either will do. I used destinyrx before, and they were reliable until the last batch of generics, which were completely useless, like, probably contain no diazepam at all. I even complained, but they didn't even reply.
So, I need somewhere reliable for Roche valium. Suggestiosn anyone? (I'm in Europe.)

I know out of ignorance I did not think just taking one 10mg valium per day that I was not addicted ,I found out differnt when I stopped taking them ,I did not get seizures, however the uneasy feeling of wanting to jump out of my own skin and the complete inability to sleep was driving near the edge of insanity. I tired sevral differant sleep aids ,to help me get some releif fron this nightmare and nothing would work untill I took something in the benzo family. I feel bad now cause a friend of mine who swore he ,like me only took one 10mg blue valium a day was going thru withdrawals ,I did not believe him and accused him of taking more then he would admit ,in the end he had the last laugh ,when called him up and told him what I was going thru when trying to stop taking that one valium per day .The HMO I belong to the Doctors will not even perscribe it to you if you where to hang onto their leg and begging for help .They will tell you they are to addictive ,well N/S ! Its a trip you dont want to take, if you have'nt started, dont ,if its to late ,Iam not the person to give you advice , cause Iam back to taking at least one perday and now have more stress then ever worrying about running out again !

10mgs isn't a ton but enough to get addicted to. Have you read the "ashton manuel" on how to taper off ?
I have read that a slow taper is the best way to go and that valium is one of the better benzo's to taper off of.
At 10mg a day you should be able to taper off pretty easily. Just gonna take a few months to do a full slow taper if you choose to do it that way.

Try u2rx.com very reliable and friendly people. Plus they throw in extras on the house for ordering x amounts. They use Western Union. They have never let me down.

Variable in quality, from worthless to fine. The last batch I had did what it was supposed to do. (But they aren't blue. . .doesn't seem right.)
These big, white Indian Vals aren't poisonous. Try a half under your tongue. If it's sweetish and melts fairly rapidly, that's a pretty good indicator that it is indeed diazepam & ok quality.
