HI EVERYONE!!!
I suffer from Degenerative Disk Disease and severe tendonitis. I get and use medicine for the DDD. I have been on this board/site for over a year now. I'm also a VIP here.
Anyway...
I've thought alot about a network of friends in my area, illinois. A network where we could all be there for each other and help one another get through the "waiting days". Sometimes waiting on meds can be painful while others have enough to last, it's then that if we all get to know each other then perhaps we could rely on one another for coverage. No trouble, just sincere. So,if you are interested in knowing more about the "network", please feel free to PM me and we can talk and see about helping each other out through rough spots and waiting times.
Looking forward to hearing from you.
Think about it, NA people are there for each other, AA people are there for each other, why can't CP'ers be there for each other!!!

I grew up in Chicago too. I left the West Loop in August. I miss it so much. Even the doctors were better, not to mention the buildings, housing, prices, ....
I lived in the Gold Coast, and the first in Hyde Park. I went to school in New York, and that was cool, but Virginia is killing me. I would join the group just to talk about a real city again.

Hi everyone!
It seems after reading my post a few times that maybe there could be some misconception. I'm sorry for this. I meant no harm and was being legit. I still am hoping for those around the area to want to become friends, and keep PM's coming.
If there are any misconceptions of my post, please know that I wasn't trying to do anything that would be considered "wrong". Have been around here for quite some time now and I'm sure that there are members that could vouch for me that I'm a good person.
Thanks.

I miss Chicago so much. I was in Ithaca New York for four years after high school. That was fun, but I got to return home afterwards. Now I am getting my MBA, and Virginia just plain sucks. When it snows the whole place goes berzerk. Everyone crashes, yet they still drive at full speed and take hard turns on unplowed powder. Now it is warmer, so the whole place turns to ice at night.
I miss quality apartments. I miss wood floors and high ceilings. I miss my paycheck. I only worked for four years, but it was a good, fun four years. Now I just borrow money, study, beg for internships, and long for our beautiful home. I was back for Christmas. I cannot explain to others the beauty of the architecture. Perhaps the availability of very bad things can make it a hazardous place to grow up (the West Side is such a short drive away), but everything else makes up for it. People are nicer than in New York, the housing is affordable (relatively), and the job market pays a living wage.
Down here they do not really have unions, so people get paid horribly and those with cash live in monstrous McMansions the size of warehouses with wall-to-wall carpeting, cheap appliances, and 8-foot ceilings. Racism is endemic. The people do not even realize it. Traffick is terrible, and there is no grocery equivalent of the Dominick's on Roosevelt at Canal. I hope I can return someday. I will buy a penthouse in an old Coop in Hyde Park with a view of the lake, or loft in River North. If I am successful, I would get a place in 840 North LSD. They actually finished that building. It is the best building I have seen contructed anywhere in the last 65 years.
I cannot tell you all how much I miss Chicago housing. I miss all the wood, and the plaster. This cheap drywall is so thing I know my neighbors' habits more than I ever wanted to. I can understand why they all are addicted to oxy and hydro around here. There is not much else to do.

I've been away from Chicago for approx. 7 months now and have been back at least 7 times for the food ...I mean family. I have lost approx 30 pounds since moving here and not by choice. There is nowhere in the US with food that can compare to Chicago. You can get the best of everything, no matter what you like, but i personally miss the Italian food. I would do just about anything to have Gnocchi w/ vodka sauce and homemade bread (or just about anything else) from Jimmys on Madison and Harlem. There is no comparison!
