I'm a newbie. Learning a LOT. Now I have a question.
I have a script for 3 month supply of diazepam (180 count), written by my regular prescriber who I've seen for a couple of years. We meet next in three weeks, but my (small) call-in script supply intended to tide me over until then has run out.
Now, last time we met, she had written me several 3-month supply scripts for my insurance mail-in pharmacy service. They rejected the 180-count diazepam because they only fill "maintenance" medications (e.g., antidepressants), and my diazepam script is written "as needed" and therefore not considered a qualified medication. My prescriber has to write the script as-needed for some reason, but she knows it's a maintenance script for me.
The company had horrible service, too, because they had originally told me even though it wasn't a maintenance med, I could still go through their "cash-and-carry" account. I was told to write my name, birthdate, insurance ID number (which is my social), and the company's record number on the back of the script. I was told to indicate "cash-and-carry" as well.
Well, they sent me the original script back, with all that [censored] written on the back of it, and a bit wrinkled unfortunately. I am wondering if anyone knows how or whether I could get this script filled without having the pharmacist call my prescriber.
The reason I don't want them to call is: not only did my insurance refuse to fill the script through their mail-in program, there is no way they'd approve this one at a regular walk-in pharmacy because of the time-to-next-script limitations they set. Also, I want to keep my good relationship with my prescriber.
