Ratings: How do they work?

I was curious how the ratings system works on these boards? What exactly are the ratings for -- and what are they based on?

What ratings are you talking about? The name under your user name? That chages by the amount of posts you make. It's all in the information they ask you to read when you sign up. Just hit the FAQ tab on the top of the page, most all the answers to most of the questions are there!

Thanks for the help -- you're right, I should have been more specific.

When you enter the forums -- if you look at the top -- it says -- posts -- views -- replies -- ratings, etc. And under the 'ratings' there are anywhere up to 5 stars.

I am wondering what the stars indicate. I couldn't find anything in the FAQs.
