Days of Our Lives Storyline
      #215698 - 01/15/05 04:55 PM

Recently (I know - it's just a soap opera) "Days of Our
Lives" has been doing a storyline on John Black, a character who is in severe pain due to an accident.
His doctor, Lexie, sends him home from the hospital to "gut it out" with only aspirin. Clearly, the character is in awful pain, and I don't understand how even a soap opera can be so heartless as to send home their #1 character in so much pain - or how they could portray a very nice doctor as so heartless. Has anyone else been irritated by this storyline?

After all, it does reach millions of people in the USA and overseas.

Now they are going in the worst possible direction - drug addiction because of chronic severe pain. How about sending John home with some pills - at least?

Hey barrett,

I'm hopelessly a Days addict Anyhow, what I pointed out to my daughter is that, in real life, John wouldn't be having such a problem because, if you notice, it's all been the same day. The ISA guy gave John the pain meds to walk Belle down the aisle- this is all still the same night #wink Pretty funny to see he's already an "addict" Geesh!

That's a good point also. It's only one day. But,
still - why would they send him home with only aspirin
if he is indeed in such pain?

I wish these soaps would get their facts straight before
they start tackling tricky issues like this.

I used to watch Days, great show, years a go I also watched ONE LIFE TO LIVE, when a soap char had bad back pain, they had her taking pain meds , prob hydo, well she got very addicted and had to got to rehab, It showed to extreme more like she would be a herion addict, it was too much.

Well, Lexie pronounced all those people dead that were alive, I am not surprised about the aspirin. She is like the worst fictional doctor ever, lol.

its like on that show take one asaprin and call me in the morning and if that doesnt help then oh well....we really have some real life docs out here that are really like this or worse...they give you nothing! best thing to do if your PCP is willing is to get a refferal to a pain doc...that has saved me for real!
