for any inexperienced "newbies", like myself, don't make
the mistake i made. if you are placing an order with a company requiring money orders, "DO NOT" declare any value
on the envelope at the time of sending it. it makes for one long and complicated time sorting out a solution and waiting for it.
custom's detained my money order in another country and now wants me, or the recpient, to pay duties and tariffs.
(they are $0.50 less than the total money order value.)
and if i request a return of the envelope, i have to pay duties and tariffs of that country, this country and shipping charges. (not going to happen)
so, i found a solution: i simply request a refund on the
money order at the store where i bought it at.
custom's of the other country will probably destroy the money order at some point after a length of time of no one
claiming it.
now i have to wait 30-60 days for a refund, but that's better than losing the money order for good. i learned this lesson the hard way of forgetting the directions for
mailing the payment.
Tis true. Just recently I was ordering some totally legit, non medical or controversial items from canada and had to pay by money order. That darn money order was held up at customs for almost 2 weeks for no reason I could get, and I asked a lot of people. Being the impatient type, I was irritated and in a hurry so I was more than just a little annoyed that my money order for perfectly 1000% legal products was held for so long, with nobody able to tell me why. Then finally it cleared (I sent it UPS and eventually tracking changed from "internal processing" or something similar to showing it in Canada), and my goods were sent to me. About a month later I got a "bill" from U S Customs letting me know that I owed something like $25 because I spent $300 in Canada??? what the hades? Import tax I guess, they never really made it very clear, but I guess it's about the same as having to fill out that blankety-blanking declaration form telling how much you spent and on what, when you return on an airplane from overseas so they know how much import tax to charge you. FUN! (more like, "will they know I bought this watch i'm wearing or not...hmmm... do I gamble.. ) But it is the truth, watch out for those money orders to canada, and btw I didn't mark any value or anything else other than the "to" addy and the "from" addy on the envelope. US Customs, don't ya just love 'em? (puke)

Due to PM spam I rarely check mine so if you send me one, make sure to let me know...
you guys think thats bad? I had a house guest from LA in Sydney and he had to go in a hurry leaving his laptop with me, since he urgently needed it I shipped it with Fed Ex express so he gets it in under 5 days. It got held up at LA customs for nearly a month, because they thought we were selling and want an import duty (when it said on the "returning to owner". So yeah be careful when buying high ticket items overseas.
oh is this a much needed thread. Wish I had known that the best for any transaction I do is ordinary post some time ago. USPS global priority is ok.
I have had endless grief everytime Ive had something sent fedex & not just pharmaceuticals. Though my most recent horror story was hydro in a 'special' package sent fedex. It took nearly 3 weeks because it was held up in customs, then quarrantine. I hate that tracking number where every couple of hours I could see what they were doing with it:
They opened it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I swear my heart rate nearly went through the roof. The next several days I kept expecting a visit from the law but they didnt see the meds???????!!!!!!!!!!!!! It finally arrived intact but not before I had developed major anxiety & panic disorder lol. An extremely stressful situation.
