What can a person DO if I got "stung" on a western union ?
      #209098 - 12/21/04 01:09 AM

I know, I know: I Should have known better.

Is there anything a person CAN do once they have been burned from an OP from India (New Delhi) paid for via Western Union?

They show a fraud link at: web page

On it, it states:
Report the issue to Western Union by calling 1-800-325-6000. This will allow Western Union to learn of any new trends in consumer fraud and allow us to keep our customers informed.

Is this a waste of time, the crook being in India, and me trying to purchase what I did that way.

If it's "just a lesson learned the HARD way: : Oh Well?

Any advice, or experience much appreciated.
Svene

I would NOT report this to W.U. as they would likely see such a transaction as a breach of their contract. I'm sorry, but I know of nothing you can do.

Read the fine print and trust me, (famous last words), don't report this to WU.

Sorry about your experience, but I have to agree with the rest of the gang. Just keep quiet and chalk it up to experience. The fine print gives WU all the advantage. It's a no-win situation for you. Also, reporting it might raise YOUR profile.
You might, however, report this OP to DB. I don't know if there's an official way to do it. If this company or guy is on the board, post your experience there. If not, post his name here so no one else will get stung.

I'm so sorry this happened to you. Has it been a long time? Sometimes some of the orders from overseas take a very long time to arrive. It is possible that you may still get your order.

There really isn't much you can do with Western Union, unfortunately. But if you are sure that you have been ripped off, you should post warnings on the boards to give other people a heads up. This will cost the crook money, you will be causing him some financial loss, just as he did to you.

I would image this is either IM4U or OLS4U. Just my guess though.

I hope not. If it was one of these places, it was probably just an error.

This is reason number 1,244 to NOT USE AN IOP! They are illegal for a reason (or 2 or 3 million reasons) guys!

I have to wonder that what could happen to a person if they were to report such a problem to W.U. I would be very concerned of legal complications from such an admition.

Suggestion TBear, read up on IOP and DEA laws. Question TBear, if you do not believe in utilizing any IOP, then why are you here? Just curious.

Maybe he is like me. Some of us are here because we use domestic (o.p.) sources. I dont wish to order from international (i.o.p.) sources either.

So, back to the same question ... which IOP? This board is for the exchange of info so perhaps you could save the rest of us from having a similar experience. I don't beleive that it was IM4U ... the man has gone over and above to keep up his end of bargain.
Unfortunately, the WU is gone. No one to complain to (except us!) and you definitely don't want to call attention to yourself by filing a complaint. Just keep sharing info and that keeps us all safe.
Sorry for your experience, but it all evens out somewhere!

I believe that most would prefer to use a domestic OP for numerous and obvious reasons. Please let me know of a really reasonably priced and really reliable one and I'll eat my hat.

I agree, this board is for the exchange of info. so why hasn't the crook been named. They should at least PM people if they don't want to post it. It's a shame that it happened but s... does happen. I've had to mess with an OP for 6 months to straighten out cc charges before.

Well... the acuser really should advise all of us who riped them off. But, on the other hand... there isnt really anything that says they HAVE to tell us either.

Say, has anyone seen the poster of this thread on the site recently? From what I can see svene83 has'nt been on here since they posted this thread.
