How do you think customs looks upon packages deliverd to a
po box address versus a home address? Just wonderin cause i really need to set up a pc bpx and the shipper will send to a po box.
Thanks for you help

well i don't know too much about this subject, but i thought
my experience my help you. i have recently opened a po box,
and one shipment made it to the po box. my latest shipment
from jupiterpharmacy was not so lucky. it was detained
@ JFK while being shipped to the po box. not know for sure
if there's any connection with the detainment and the po box VS. a regular mailing address or not.

I do not have an answer for you, but Customs must be VERY busy, especially this time of year, and I doubt that the destination address (Home vs PO Box) will have any bearing on their curiosity. I have received several packages at my PO box, but not from overseas.

I'm interested in hearing from someone that has had a solid amount (10+) of letters make it through at a PO box.

I have received many packages and small envelopes from overseas to my po box. No problem. Most of these shipments were jewelry and gemstones, but I don't think that makes a difference.

Happy trails to you.......

Ok, very good to know. What about people that have used mailbox companies (not at the USPS post office) that have after hours entry?

The whole key is to use a commercial PO BOX source (like Mailboxes etc) rather than a USPS PO BOX. The address looks like a regular street address - and they will also sign for FED EX - registered mail etc. You cannot receive shipments to a USPS PO BOX that require signature. And many carriers (Like FEX EX) will not even ship to a USPS PO BOX.
But if you only receiving regular mail USPS PO BOX would be fine - as long as youR REALY comfortable going into a US gOVERNMENT INSTALLATION TO PICK UP YOUR - ERM - MAIL.

From what I've seen, private mail boxes like the UPS Store (fka: Mailboxes Etc.) go for more than twice as much as USPS boxes, but this is likely affected by your location.
In my area $50/year for a small USPS box and $120 for a small UPS Store box.
I use a USPS box for regular mail and for FedEx or UPS shipments I use "Hold for Pick-Up". "Hold for Pick-Up" is like a private mail box but it doesn't cost anything.

i held a PO BOX for 2 years, never had a problem with canadian sources. first intercontinental package was seized. i closed it up, and used home address since then. never have a problem now.

I've studied this in depth. I doubt there is any difference.
Also: as someone else mentions above, a CMRA is the best. If you want absolute privacy, use a CMRA that is run by peole who don't really care what you are receiving and will allow after-hours entry.
