I received my liver function report, of course in the mail with no phone call to explain from my PCP's office. General condition is "stable", with all number within guidelines except sucrose (112) and C.K. (Creatine Kinase) at 300. I did some Google research and found this could be due to recent injections (3 of them, 90 days ago)in my elbow for epicondylitis.
I have seen some VERY savvy medical posts here, I would like to ask which values on the report I should watch for possible APAP damage and if that C.K. level is inconsistent with my findings. Thanks in advance.
I am a Hep C patient on my 2nd round of Interfuron TX. I get full Liver panels every 2 weeks so i am somewhat familiar with the results.
There are 2 very important levels you should be concerned with. They are:
ALT (SGPT) and AST (SGOT) . These are your Enzyme levels and the lower the level the better. The higher they are relate to the levels of Enzymes in your blood stream. This level should be low if your liver is working normaly and keeping these enzymes within the liver is the normal function. When they are in he bloodstream it means that your liver is having a problem.
An ideal level would be low 50's or lower for both. I have been as high as 186 on ALT and 155 on AST. Bilirubin is also important and a level below 1.0 is OK. Creatinine should be around 1.0 as well.
Do a google search on SGPT and SGOT and you can read more on the enzymatic levels and the liver function. I'm no expert but this is the way i understand it. Also try this website

I can't comment on your results other than to say that a glucose level of 112 (normal is
Mostly i want to say that anyone who wants a complete blood workup doesn't have to see a doctor. If you're a member, you can get a full Chem-21/CBC blood-panel for $35 through www.lef.org . They offer a tremendous range of tests but that one is by far the most bang for the buck.
They send you a form that you bring in to a local medical lab that draws the blood and faxes the results to a doctor in Florida and you get the hard-copy results by UPS or mail in about a week. If you have any questions about any of the results, you can call and talk to the doctor ... and he or she may try to sell you some supplements, but hey, it's better than nothing.
You can even use those blood test results to send to one of those borderline NR OPs that sometimes call and sometimes don't. If all they want is proof that you saw a doctor, it might be enough.
