Most decent dental insurance programs come wrapped in a full medical insurance policy.
It's very difficult to get just dental insurance.
There are some companies that offer it, but the drawback is they are not accepted by many dentists. So the consequence of that is you have a long waiting list to get in with the dentist.
I'll try to find the couple that I looked into awhile back, and let u know. You might have better luck with dentists in your area accepting it.
I'll get back to u , need to look for the paperwork..:)

Here's a link to one offering the names of dentists in your area that will accept the various plans. U just enter your zip code. web page
I couldn't find the brochures I had from a couple years ago for the ones I was looking into, but they were pretty worthless anyway, only 2 or 3 dental places in my area took them, and they put u on a waiting list for appt., because they only did so many of their claims a year.
Good luck , and hope u had a not too painful trip to dentist today.

I would ask your local (preferred) dentist. I know there is a "dental credit card" available which is basically the same thing as insurance, a little every month instead of a lot at once. Take care & good luck!

Our dental plan is wrapped in with our medical plan although two different companies. I looked to see where our dental plan is located and it appears to be only within our state. I think asking your dentist (or the gals who really run the office!) what insurance companies are filed through their office may be of help. They may even know which plans are the best. Good luck.

I know that Blue Cross Blue Shield has dental insurance. It is called Dental Blue I believe. You can get just it for yourself or for the family. It is pretty reasonable from what I hear. You may want to check into that, and I know that alot of dentists accept it too.

I know they don't offer it in all states but Delta Dental offers individual dental plans.
It did take me a long time to find a good dentist but I did and I couldn't be happier with him for myself and kids.
The co-pays are so resonable that I had what would have cost $6000.00 worth of dental work done for under a thousand.

Wow, that is a great savings! Is there a waiting period for Delta Dental insurance? Is there a limit on discounts? I have to have about $5000 worth of dental work done.

No waiting period but you need to see if it's available in your state. Delta has a web site, google it for Delta Dental Insurance.
If you can get it you can sign up online.

The website is http://www.deltadental.com/ on the left hand side of the screen click on the individual dental plans, it then takes you to a drop down to choose which state and what may be available.
I am on the PMI plan it an HMO plan but like I said if available to you you must search for a good dentist, it took me a while. Family is $250.00 per year and individual is $150.00 per year.
Some of the work I had done my dentist said I was lucky because most insurances didn't cover it but Delta did.

Sorry my friend. There is no such beast unless you are a govt. employee or willing to stick with the insurance for a few years. Seems most if not all dental plance have an accumulation of benefits (starting at minimal, teeth cleaning free xrays) over the years. So you may have to stick it out 5 years before they pay for a [censored] or root canal. Check at local universities for a school of denistry. They usually have very reasonable rates. Good luck to you. (incidentally, a cheap way to numb pain temporarily is to suck on a clove, the kind ya use to cook hams).
