All you other phentermine users, how do you manage to sleep?
      #205979 - 12/07/04 04:16 PM

Experienced diet pill folks out there, please advise.
I take 30 mg phentermine 2 or 3 times a week, it really helps me maintain my 50 lb weight loss (along with exercise & WW) and I just plain enjoy it. My problem is that I can't sleep much when i take it. I tried 15 mg, but no appetite suppression and still no sleep.
Benzo's or Ambien before bed work great, but create their own tolerance devils. Some will suggest Benedryl, but that never worked for me even as an allergy pill, and anyway it is contraindicated when taking phentermine.
I was hoping someone wiser might know a trick or 2.

Also, while I'm on the subject, how long can this go on?
My blood pressure is normal, i have no risk factors that I know of related to phentermine. I have used 90 pills in about 9 months. When I stop i don't feel any WD, I just get too hungry after a couple of days. And of course I miss the energy.

I take soma at night, or valium or xanax. If you're taking it just a couple of times a week, it would take awhile to build up a tolerance to benzos - especially if you rotate them.

Well, of corse thats the most obvious side effect of the prescription weight loss meds. I remember I once was prescribed Didrex (MUCH stronger than phentermine) for my weight and Soma for a spranged wrist. I found that taking 1-2 Somas at night time helped my wrist pain AND it helped me sleep like a baby.

I always made sure to take the phen very (and I mean very!) early in the am. Set the alarm for 5, take a pill and go to the bathroom and hit the sack for another hour or two. If it gets to be 8am and you are reaching for that bottle - too late!

This is a common problem w/phentermine. I also take it very early, I take it 2 hours b4 I wake in the morning. You may find that it puts you right back to sleep then 1-2 hours later you are really pumped. Like I said, it knocks me back out for the first hour or so thats why I take it before I have to wake. Any how, soma works good, trazadone also works or any other seditive. You should rotate them like others have mentioned to avoid tolerance problems. If you mix soma w/trazadone be careful it gives you bedspins so dont do this unless you think you can handle it. However it really knocks you right out.

Thanks for advice, I'm trying taking it early as i type,(wake up really early too!) my experience tho is that it kicks in within 1/2 hr and I am ready to clean the house, can't eat breakfast & talk everyones ear off! Then i settle down & am normal in 2 hrs. Maybe time release, is there such a kind, would be better?
What about cross tolerance with benzos?
I've never tried Soma, isn't it a muscle relaxant?
i really appreciate the input, phentermine is rarely talked about anywhere intelligent. Has anyone ever surfed those phentermine weight loss forums like phentermine.com? Last time I checked it was so juvenile and obviously set up to sell product.

Kicks in quickly for me too. I have to wait until 8 or 9 am to take it though, or it wears out before dinner. But then again, I've been taking it for quite awhile.

Soma is a muscle relaxant, but it also is a great sleep aid and a hell of a lot cheaper than ambien or benzos and easier to get. Less addicting too.

thanks, I'd like to try soma but it appears that NetRxforLess can't ship soma to my state & OP4L doesn't carry it on the domestic side.
