bup doc today
      #205808 - 12/07/04 06:00 AM

I've been so sick the past several days. Not sure if it was the decreasing dosage of hydro (not by choice) or if I have a virus, but man am I SICK. I called the first bup doc on my list and he was very understanding. I am supposed to see him at 2 pm today. I'd love to hear from anyone else who has gone this route. Thanks, juliah

probably means buprenorphine. It is a wonderful drug for those that want to get the hydro monkey off of their back.

buprenorphine. sorry. And thank Voyager. I got to move my appt up to 11 am and have already gone. I take my first dose of suboxone (aka buprenorphine) when the withdrawals really start to kick in.

Not to pick at straws, but Suboxone and buprenorphine are not exactly the same thing. Suboxone is a buprenorphine formulation including naloxone (narcan), an opiooid antoagonist (similar to naltrexone). The bupe satisfies your opiod receptors, and the naloxone blocks the effects of other opioids while you are using it, making relapse less likely. (Or I think that's how it works!)

Congratulations, juliah1. on recognizing and dealing with your tolerance/dependancy issues. which many of us have to confront sooner or later. I'm on an extended hydro holiday myself right now, (which I managed to do without suboxone).

What are you using to get by during your hydro holiday if anything? I need to take a holiday as well but I am scared of what I am facing. Any ideas?

thanks potatoboy, didn't know that I am surprised at how I am feeling now. Buzzed is not the word...but I am very AWARE of things going on around me or something. A weird, but not unpleasant feeling.
