I was wondering if any one else has had a problem with ankle and foot swelling while taking higher doses of hydro. I have noticed that when I need to take higher doses hydro, my feel and ankles swell about 6 hours later and stay swollen for about 2 days. If its not just me, does anyone have any idea what may be causing it? I would appreciate any information that anyone has. Thanks

All I know is when my sister in law was drinking her self to death she started swelling all over her body. It would come and go and it went on for months. Then she really blew up, her liver was going. She was sick for months but made a full recovery, and sober for nine years.

You really SHOULD call your doctor with this symptom....the hydro dosing & noticing the swelling may be coincidental...but this can be signs of LOT'S of things and when your feet swell if you press a finger into the swollen area if it remains depressed & takes longer than 1-2 seconds to "pop back up" it's edema that is definately NOT normal & NOT a common sign or side effect of hydro...call your doc, make an appointment...take your hydro and let him LOOK at the swelling, he will take it from there...this isn't a good forum for diagnosing something that could be serious & needs evaluation...that's what he makes the big bucks for after all...good luck to you & keep us posted on what he says....

I will put it to you as simple as I can. You are taking to much.. My brother had same symptoms. Better be careful
You need to drink water through the day. You know that tylenol is at the toxic level at 1500 mg which is not that many pills for vic es at 750mg that is only 2 pills worth of tylenol.. So do the math if you are taking 10 a day that is 7500 mg correct. Toxic

Yes, it's happened to me! But only when I've taken motorcycle trips. Usually sitting in one position for 4-5 hrs.
But ALSO I tend to take more pain relief. The riding is hard on the injured wrist and back. And the swelling does stick around for a couple of days.
Last trip wasn't soo bad, I drank more fluids.
This is interesting though..seems to be a side effect of hydro. Thanks for the post. Cin

I think I should have been a little more specific on my dosages before. What I take is Norco (10/325). I usually take 1 every 6 hours. My Dr instructed me to take 1 1/2 for my really severe pain, which is the most that I will take. Since I am so afraid of addiction, I won't even take my next dose 30 minutes early.
Cin, thank you for letting me know that I am not alone. And come to think about it, I usually am sitting for long periods of time when I have to take my higher dose of Norco. Did drinking more fluids help the swelling go away faster?
I do have a Drs appointment coming up, but the earliest one I could get is in 2 weeks. Gotta love our militarys health care systems.
Thank you to everyone who responded, and if anyone else has a thought, I would love to hear it.
