Can anyone give me some advice on this:
I picked up a prescription for norco at Walmart on the 14th of this month and I have a couple refills left. The label said I could take 3 x's a day & that would be 20 days worth (quantity is 60). Does anyone know if Walmart lets you pick up a refill early, like on Mon. which would be the 16th day? This time the 3 a day hasn't been enough since I got back-to-back bladder infections and now I'm running low.
I know I can call & ask but I wanted to check with you all first just to see if you have any good ideas about this sort of thing.
I hope it's ok for me to post this question in this section, I wasn't sure where the right place was!
Thanks in advance for any input you can offer. Hope you're all having a good wkend!
I know from my experience with the big drug stores in my area(walgreens, cvs etc) it was something like when 80% of the script is done i could call in my refill for example on a 20 day script i could refill it on the 17th day something like that-dont know if this makes sense but i did get my refills lol
Usually the insurance will accept refills at drugstores at 75% of the script. Looks like the 16th in your case would be 80%. You should be OK, give or take a day.
Thanks for letting me know about the refills. I don't have insurance so I wonder if that means I wouldn't have any problems whatsoever picking up early??? Oh well, I will give them a call Sunday to see what they say. I do appreciate your responses!!!

Have a good day.
If you're paying for the scrip yourself, you don't have to wait for refills. It's at the discretion of the pharmacist (who can decide to call the doctor for an OK), but unless your state prohibits it, federal law allows you to get all your refills at the same time as the first fill. I know someone who gets a 180-day scrip for Xanax with the max 5 refills. She pays cash and walks out with 180 days worth of pills on the first fill. They love it because she pays with cash money and gets name brand. It costs her about $500 and she always does it now because she once missed out on most of the refills because of the 6-month rule.
If you want to try this, do it when the doctor's office is open in case pharmacist wants to call for an OK. There's also the possibility that the doctor will say no and the doctor can verbally cancel all those refills (or even the entire scrip if they suspect diversion or abuse).
