I was wondering if anyone here is addicted to Starbucks I feel like I cannot live (happily) without my cappucino and/or pumpkin spice latte. It's ridiculously expensive, but I'm HOOKED! I even bought a (cheap) espresso machine for home and tried making my own.... I don't have much of an appetite with the hydro, but I desparately crave coffee. Anyone else? Love, juliah

Yep - your right caffine and hydro are a winning combo. The only thing better is ritilan and/or dexadrine and hydro. (I take dex for narcolepsy).
One hint - you can BUY the coffee that starbucks uses (aqt starbucks) and then the coffee tastes right!

I've always been a tried and true Folgers or Maxwell House coffee. NEVER instant coffee or the like. I like the buttery taste of Folgers probably the best.
You know how they make decaffinated coffee beans? By letting them sit and leach for hours in a liquid...don't know what liquid and/or exactly how long. You know how they make flavored coffee beans? By letting them sit and leach for hours in a flavored liquid...don't know what liquid and/or exactly how long......point being is I've always been under the impression that flavored coffee beans LOSE most of their caffeine content when companies soak the beans to add flavor.
FLAVORED COFFEE BEANS THAT ARE ALSO SUPPOSED TO BE CAFFIENATED ARE NOT OR ARE VERY LOW IN CAFFIENE CONTENT.
Just an idea to add to the topice.....talk amongst yourselves........

I enjoy a good cup of joe now and again. I actually managed a coffee shop years ago. If you ever have the chance try some Jamacian Blue Moutain coffee. I would occasionally treat myself to a cup or two or three.... when I worked at the coffee shop. Anyway's the aroma alone of this coffee is great. Real Blue Moutain coffee ain't cheap though. I think it's around $30 a pound. If you ever get the chance check it out. YOu'll definitely enjoy it.

Thanks for the coffee talk I'm gonna head off to my local shop in a minute. I don't really like flavored coffee or decaf. I need the full espresso. I don't usually drink a shot of espresso, I am hooked on cappucinos (espresso with steamed milk and foam) and the pumpkin spice latte (espresso, steamed milk, a bit of foam and pumpkin spice syrup). I never really liked those flavored coffees like at Barnies, but if that's all I could get my hands on, it would do. Sort of like if you run out of hydro and someone offeres you a darvocet. Not really gonna DO much, but at least it's something. Now, I liken a cup of folgers to an asprin. I won't even bother with it, LOL. Gonna get my joe. love, juliah

ike...I'll have to look for some blue mountain coffee. I can't afford to be addicted to THAT, but it would be something I'd like to try. I like your dog, btw.....he seems "sturdy". You'd laugh at my dog. love, juliah

I am a confirmed caffiene addict. Its been about 30 years. My whole family knows. I am afraid thaere will be an intervention any day now. It actually runs in the family, my brother is a Dunkin Donuts freak and his wife has to have her various concoctions from Starbucks. I am a hor, I'll drink anything. I have coupons for Dunkin Donuts and an actual Starbucks card. Without coffe, I couldn't live. Is there a 12 step group for this condition? I keep a large container of Savarin/Maxwell House/Folgers at home for a backup.

All kidding aside. My pain doc seems to think that coffee offsets the pain effects of hydrocodone and percocet. Just one person's opinion. In other words, caffiene is not considered a potentiator except for headaches. My problem (besides my wife, (just kidding ladies) is degen disc/back/spinal/facet syndrome.

a cup of joe? Man I aint heard that for a while. I have never tried the blue mountain type, but it seems very price. Usually the bags you buy out of dunkin donuts (it isn't starbucks, I know but the coffee pros MUST recognize the distinct creamy taste of this wonderful java) are 8 a pound I thought. But oddly that high price makes me want to try it all that much more. Funny thing, we just got a coffee grinder the other day. My fiances smokes medical herbs and grinded it in the coffee grinder, leaving some residue behind. I went out and bought some gourmet coffee beans from publix (oxy-moron?) and came come used the grinder.
This is taking way to long to type, basically After drinking the coffee I had an intense high feeling (I didn't see the residue it was dark and I know you can get banned for "wanting to get high", this was an accident), different than I have felt before. Has anyone else had this mistake happen to them?

Interesting Story. I used to grind my beans, Its been years since. Never thought of adding anything to it.
For me, coffee is best left alone. Just milk and a little sugar.

About a 12 step meeting for coffee addicts - any *A meeting will have TWO constants - VERY strong coffee and lots of people out front smoking ciggies.
Me, I had to have an intervention for going to too many meetings. But I haven't needed to get drunk in 7 years.
Even trying to join the Mormons didn't cure my coffee habit!

It'll take more than that. It is the most used drug in the country snd is being promoted by many mainstream religious organizations. You can find thosands of "coffee hours" after Protestant Services. I think the DEA should investigste. Doesn't coffee come from Colombia? Don't these same religious groups send missionaries to these places? There must be some connection!.

Hydro and Ritalin is my most favorite combo ever!! I become SuperWoman on that combo...
I don't like coffee but I do drink lots of caffeine in the form of RED BULL and MTN DEW.
I will occasionally go to our local coffee shop for a CHAI TEA...mmmmm LOVE that stuff! I usually get the CHAI CHARGER tho and it is an extra large Chai with two shots of espresso. I usually get that with extra whipped cream on top to sweeten the bitterness of the espresso. Since I don't eat much while taking hydro either, Chai tea was also a filling meal for me!

that's a great idea Tone, unfortunately that doesn't give you the ice cold crisp refreshment of a Dew! Or the sweet warmth of Chai....
ok, now i'm starting to crave it!

Ritilan and Rockstar helps offset the drowsies that hydro gives - the starbucks is just down in teh noise with me along with the double strength indionesian ciggies.

I find caffeine just gives me body shakes, and does nothing in providing the central nervous system "Focus" that amine's provide without the shakes.
Plus caffeine makes me nauseous!

OK, for the record I cannot stand Starbucks. We are just now getting them here in Oklahoma and I just cannot drink anything but good ole Columbian or Dark Roast coffee.
Gevalia or Caribou coffee is my favorite. Even the regular coffee at Starbucks is bad

In my opinion, whether with or without meds, either way-
Starbucks =
Although all espresso drinks are good to me, and there is another (independent, not a chain) coffee shop in my city that serves everything true European style - very, VERY good latte's and everything else. BUT, they don't have a drive-thru (I usually chug my espresso on the way to work ) I can barely drink plain coffee anymore I gotta have my 'shots in the morning.

Man, please stop guys. Evertime this thing gets bumped I'm making a cup of mud. Do the expresso/cap. machines at walmart make good coffee? Also I am thinking of getting a seal-a-meal (but the black and decker version again, from walmart) for my coffeebeans, but also for food. HOW airtight do seal-a-meals really keep the stuff?

Hi,
I don't think I ever had the regular coffee at Starbucks. I believe that Starbucks is still expanding and will soon be all over, Red state and Blue State alike. But, the Strbuck vibe is definitely Blue State. The one up the street from here actually sells the New York Slimes newspaper.(I live in blue state, red county). To each their own.

I have to secon the sentiment - There are two (non-chain) coffeehouses in fremont. One serves a double=caffine robustus called Peruvian Organic. The other serves espresso made from 'mr. espressp' beans out of SF. Traditional espresso is NOT bitter - but it is easier to overcool the beans and end up with a bitter product.
Starbuck WILL french press ANY coffee they sell for you - by the cup. But waiting for special service while in line with 12.5 yuppies is not my ideal day

I get asked ALL the time: "How do you afford to go to Europe EVERY YEAR????" (Sometimes I go twice a year. But, for the last couple of decades I go at least every year.) My answer is always the same:
"I don't have a cell phone; I don't have cable TV; I don't have a car payment; I buy all my clothes at Savers (local used clothing store); I never go to the barber, dry cleaners or fitness club; and I don't spend $4 on a cup of coffee."
Hell, I could go for a week in Europe on what some of my co-workers spend on neckties and body hair removal!
We all have our priorities I guess. I just prefer seeing the Berlin Philharmonic rather than having 1,000 TV channels and having my chest waxed. And I make a [censored] good cup of espresso for about nine cents.
