Retired,
I looked at that site and I must admit, it's pretty good. But some of those people are seriously F-ed up. God help them. (and God help me also, for having a potty mouth this morning, sorry guys and girls) Have a good day!

That's a good idea. Thanks. I think I'll try that too.

Immodium actually is an opiate, but it doesn't cross the blood-brain-barrier, meaning you dont get any psychological effects from it. It also explains why people feel so much relief when using loperamide for withdrawal. But dont worry, the immodium that is available can not be made into some other stronger opiate, which is why there are no special restrictions on it.
Your pharmacist was probably telling you about ephedra, which can be used to make methamphetamine(the most horrible illicit drug there is, and unfortunately, extremely easy to make ). That is why any precursors of methamphetamine are carefully watched.
However, as I previously pointed out, there is no such problem with loperamide.

I know I haven't properly introduced myself, but I can tell all of you one thing. I will never share anything that I didn't know about for sure or have personal experience with. First of all, I have for most of my adult life been treated for a sleep disorder and after various other meds I am now being prescribed Seroquel. I have never had a psychotic episode in my life. I just needed to share that since no one knows me here yet and someone who suffers with a sleep disorder may benefit from knowing about that. By the way, thank you all for your shares.

The easiest withdrawal from opiates I ever had was when I took
clonidine, robaxin (for muscle cramps), and lorazepam (for anxiety) during the day and klonopin at night to sleep. This was prescribed by a very caring local dr who had the opinion that the most important thing was that I come off opiates. The only other med I would have liked to have was compazine for nausia. This was a quite few years ago, however. I barely felt the withdrawals, even though I had been taking large doses of a very potent opiate. I looked, and all of these meds are available on-line. I've also found out over the years that the sooner you can get the opiates out of your system, the easier the withdrawals. I know this sounds strange, but its true. Hope this helps

This sounds almost like the hospital detox I just went through. The first 3 days were IV meds Buprenex and Phenobarbital. After 3 days, switched over to phenobarb pills, Robaxin for muscle spasm, Clonidine TTS patches for craving. Absolutely NO BENZOS!! The narcotic (opiate) w/d was EASY compared to the benzo w/d I went through going CT off Xanax. YUCK!!! gosh, i never, ever want to take another benzo as long as I live. And that is huge for me to say seeing as though I am a very anxious, shy, nervous person with panic attacks...
I am lucky I have yet to have a panic attack but the what-if lingers constantly.
