Records OPs- The Way To Go
      #201378 - 11/18/04 01:01 PM

I've posted this in the past, and with all the craziness that's flying around about WorldNet (Rx1Stop, Bluesky, etc.)I will say this again... GO WITH RECORDS OPs!!!
If you have a legitimate medical condition that warrants pain meds, for example, get a copy of your medical records from your treating Dr - they CANNOT refuse to give you a copy. They may charge you per page, but no more than $1. Most don't even charge. Also, to be on the safe side, and so you can sleep at night, not wondering if LE's gonna knock on your door next, go with an OP which requires photo ID, med records, phone consult, and a Physical Examination! This takes care of the Dr/Pt relationship. Whether you fax them copies of your Exam, in that you have it done at your own PCP, or if they set up a Port-A-Med Exam for you, it is required once a year.
By staying with the legit, US records OPs, you have nothing to worry about- well, for now, at least.
Just my 2 cents...

Peace,

Julz

I agree that records OP would be the way to go for certain people, but for others it is not.Let me give an example:

I have degenerative disc disease of the cervical and lumbar spine.I have had surgery (lamenectomy) on my lower back.I am in pain always and it increases when I do anything.

I see my primary doctor every month for a prescription he gives me 60-5mg pills. They might be adequate if I never did anything. He will not give me more because I am not supposed to lift more than 40 lbs. or work in construction. The problem is like most I need to make money.I use NROP's because my records would show that I am receiving meds
from my primary.I don't think that a records OP would give me anything, maybe I'm wrong I would appreciate any thoughts on the matter. The 60 supplemental pills I get from the NROP's make it possible for me to work.

Thanks for reading and good luck to all.

Have to agree, with you both, all the legal problems surfacing, Im gonna look like a junkie to investigators, but I keep all my pills, and am in so much debt, to stay somewhat pain free. Cant stand this pain, Im only 28, and have been dealing with this since 1998. I have chronic fatigue, spinal stenosis, and fibromyalgia. Have had every experiment done, PT, even was eligible for morphine pump to be done in Philly, but couldnt afford it, and was scared of more spinal injury. So what do you do? My reg Dr. put me on Darvocet which doesnt do [censored]???? Have started going through places that need records but still was using Rxpillmax, etc. So was 2 other people in my house, so it will look really bad???

I too am a big fan of ROP- price and legality. BUT you make an excellent point which I never thought about. I move a lot- so I see different doctors - I occasionally receive almost enuf, mostly nothing - now and then jsut like you describe, but with different doctors in different states (3 in the last year and a 1/2 alone). LET ME THROW THIS OUT - Suppose you ask the doctor to discontinue medicine - tell him you are going to try "Herbal remedies" - say poppy seeds for example [just a joke!!] - but really, then after a month, you get your records which show YOU DISCONTINUED use- if he discontinued you lose (shows your better) -and if they ask any questions, which I seriously doubt, say the "herbal remedy" didn't work. THEY WILL NOT sell you only the 60 5mg- usually 120 10 mg. Sixty 5mg for your condition is pathetic!!

questor~
You do make a very good point. However, you only need to send your medical records which state your medical condition, within a year from consult with a ROP.

with the nrop's shut down now records op's may be the only choice for awhile, trust me, gov't is seriously looking into internet drugs, and they wont let it be sold online for long, i even believe record op's are on the list to be shut down at some point, start finding dr's if you can

Which ROP are the best? As of yet, i've only used NROP's if only for convienience, but now that they're gone, I'm looking for a good ROP. Specifically, I would like one that takes MO's and COD. I don't really want to use my Credit Card.

Thanks!

Laura

eolson~
I dont know about a telemedic exam, but the OPs that require a Portamed exam goes like this:
You either go to your own PCP for a routine Physical, then fax the results to your OP, or the OP arranges one for you, in that they set up a Portamed exam with a licensed professional, (usually an RN or LPN) in your area. You can either visit them, or have them come to your home or office. Either way, they contact you by phone to set it up. OPs require this exam be done once a year, and they do remind you when you are due for one.
The exam consists of: your blood pressure reading, your pulse reading, your height and your weight.
Usually, there is another form that you fill out yourself in which they ask you to mark down the areas of your body that are painful, and the degree of pain, on a scale of 1-10, 10 being the most severe.
Hope this helps.

Peace,

Julz

I've never used a NROP and much prefer record OPs, however I can certainly understand instances when someone would need or want to. With the health care "system" in this country such a disaster, it can be tough to pay for doc visits in addition to meds. Not to mention medical costs such as MRIs or XRays.

Or there is a host of other reasons, from lost/stolen meds to ahem, none of our business reasons. I actually knew someone who used one to get pain meds for her mother who was dying from cancer because the doc wouldn't give her enough to ease her pain! Like dependence/addiction made a bit of difference! Unbelievable, but true.

I feel that everyone should do as they see fit without feeling judged by others who may be more fortunate. Happy Giving Thanks Day to all!

I agree. NROP will always exist. I don't care what they do to try and shut them down, They will fail. The "Net" will always remain the wild west in some shape or form. The risks of using "foreign sources" may become more dangerous but they also will never be elimanated. Its really about risks, that is why I have only used legal, records required, Amerikan sources, for a long time. If you truly have a legit reason for takeing medicine of various kinds, you are better off going "legal" I also agree that the cost of keeping your records current can be a burden, For me, this is the most expensive time of year and I have been preparing for it a long time. To others money is not an issue. God! that must be great!>>>>>NEON

when i sent my medical records in it showed everything that was being rx'ed to me and the company i faxed my records to didnt mind that i was getting very little from the PCP i was seeing at that time....IMO i think these OPs what to see in your records that you have been rx'ed these meds before they give them to you but that is just my 2 cents
