I have NO idea what I did. It just started hurting several days ago out of the blue. And I mean serious hurting. I've never had any back problems before so this was something new for me. No matter what I do...stand, sit, lay down...it hurts.
I went to the doctor and he tentatively diagnosed it as lumbar sprain. He wrote me orders for x-rays if I'm not better in a few days. I'm taking Flexeril and hydro.
Here's the problem....the meds aren't working. And that's really unusual as hydro has ALWAYS been a very effective pain med for me. I'm shocked and at a loss. Having hydro not work was like discovering the sky wasn't blue or something. LOL
Does anyone have suggestions for different meds? I'm going to call my doctor today and tell him what's happening. I'll go back in to see him, if I have to. I just need something that helps. I HAVE to get some sleep!
Also, is there any point in getting the xrays or would I be wasting my money (which is in very short supply)? If it is indeed lumbar sprain, would that even show up on an xray?

You don't say what strengh Hydro you are taking but maybe stronger strength or Norco. I'm sorry I don't know anything personally about lumbar strain but when I hurt my back it was always recommended that I put ice 20min on, 20min off and that helped tremendously. Thank God I haven't had any back problems for a long time. I hope I've helped if just a little. Good luck to you and I hope you find your way OUT of pain. PAIN SUCKS!
