myofascial release

I just strained my neck. This was after a fusion of C5 through C7. I have not had any problems until now. My MD is sending me for PT. He wants me to get myofasical Realease. Does any one know what this is. I am also getting ultrasound heat and exersize to.

What will they do with this myofascial release? will it hurt?

Hi John: I found MR to be very wonderful but I had "skillful hands" working on me. The myofacia is a thinish layer protecting our muscles. Its that slippery stuff when you skin a chicken, uno? Anywhoo, shouldnt hurt at all. I feel for you man; one can be very bound-up and in pain when the myofacial tissue is hardened. Breathe deeply when he/she works on you. Drink lots of water too as toxins are released. Best of luck!

I've got myofascial pain syndrome, and I've never heard of myfascial relief. Pegleg's description makes it sound like massage - yes?
