$1 / mg for oxycontin is insane and I wouldn't pay that. I could find it "on the street" in NY for cheaper!
Someone earlier in this thread suggested trying Percocet (Oxycodone/apap) instead of Oxycontin when I visit Mexico in 2 months to get it cheaper.
Before I go, I would love to know what sort of price range I should expect? I'd really like to get the new 10/325 oxy/apap generic that came out 2 months ago by both Watson and Teva. These 10/325's are the new "Norco" of Oxycodone and are the next best thing to apap-free Oxycontin and ALOT easier to get ahold of in the U.S. at least.
Speaking of Norco, I would also love to know what range to expect to pay for hydro/apap meds? Are they easier to get and cheaper than Oxy/Apap down there? Has anyone had any luck finding generic Norcos (e.g. 10/325), or do you mostly end up with Lortabs and take whatever you can find (e.g. 5/500's)?
Sorry for all the questions. My most imporant question involves price so I don't get ripped off: Does anyone have some sort of rule of thumb or any personal experience on price per mg. for either OXY/APAP or HYDRO/APAP?

I have had nothing but good luck with getting just about anything in cancun. I got percodan in the first phaarmacy I walked into in playa del carmen. As for the price; the pils are actualy just slightly cheaper than a U.S. pharma would charge so dont expect any mindblowing deals. Most of the cost is for the script you have to get from the doctor. After telling the doctor what you want and getting the script, then buying the drugs at the pharma you generaly have paid as much or in some cases slightly more than if you had got the same meds off the streets in the U.S.
Anyway I guess what I am trying to say is that mexico is easy and quick for getting the drugs you want and most people I know will pay whatever it takes to have a pocket full of happyness when partying south of the border

For those of you who read down this far I have a suggestion. Almost anything (except oxy or hydro) is available from an international Pharmacy by internet. You don't have to leave your chair. See the "Who has it/How much?" section on the main index for a list.
PS When in a foreign country always remember, local laws apply. As someone said above, Mexico is a third world country. Even some developed countries, like Spain, can be very corrupt. If you question this, see the report on Libsol. This org was once the best IOP and the Spanish government railroaded the owner and was put in jail!

I was in Cancun two winters ago, Percodan was very easy to buy. I went into the one big pharmacy in the party zone, down by the Burger King, it's a big one. I wanted some band aids, as I walked up to the pharmacy counter the guy stared reaching under the counter pulling out stuff for sale viagra, percodan and what else I'm not sure because when he said percodan thats all I heard. They were blister pacts for 300 pesos ten in a pack. So about $3 a peice. Acording to him they have a Dr who drops off a hand full of scripts every morning and that's what they sell. As I checked around I found it a little cheaper off the strip, but a lot of the pharmacys have a computer under the counter hooked into to a Dr somewhere to do consults and scipts right there. Last year I went to Ixtapa and I had to go to a Dr who would charge for the script and then send you to a particular pharmacy. I'm going to Cozumel next month so we'll see how they do it there. The cab driver thing is always good idea and look around the hotel the guys that work there they can give you some good info for a little tip (cash)

Just reading this thread out of curiousity. May be a stupid question, but how does customs coming back into U.S. handle this?

Well, dah, Brian! All kidding aside, I was thinking more along the lines of customs roaming through your suitcase, etc. The last few times I've traveled, the airports went through everything just about! I know someone who snuck a Cuban cigar in her tampon just to get it in the country! Sorry, guess I'm getting off topic here.....

It goes without saying that bringing things back into the US in carry on luggage is not a good idea. I fly every couple of months and there is decent chance they will look through your carry on (even domestically).
Fortunately, they are looking for other stuff, so they could overlook something.
The odds of them opening your checked baggage are lower. More often then not they go through the xray machine. You're always taking a chance so better to keep quantities small.
One last thing - never put a lock on your checked luggage. It is now against airline policy (and perhaps US law??) to lock it. If you do it's a red flag.

Just got back from Cancun/Cozumel, and this process wasn't very productive. I met with a doctor (who after seeing I was an American, immediately offered to write a prescription for Valium) who asked for $45 for a consultation--I haggled him down to $40, but still steep--though he was willing to write a script for both me and my girlfriend.
NO oxycodone available. I spent close to 25 minutes going through the drug book with the doc to find an effective narcotic pain reliver. He wanted to give me neopercodan (not like percodan, which I had heard on this board). I declined and we kept looking. He offered temurgesic, which was recommended on this board, but we called around and couldn't find a pharmacy that stocked it!?! Ended up with Tylox (Tylenol 3 in capsule form) at about $1 each, but the whole process was disappointing.
Sorry I can't offer more help.

Staright oxycodone without any Acetaminophen in it like Percocet etc. is what oxycontin is. They make this in capsule form instant release in a 5mg version .Here is a couple of picturesof the 5mg oxycodone instant release.

Buscar, did you mean, "Tylex" instead of Tylox? In Mexico they sell a product named Tylex that is a white capsule and it is equivalent to Tylenol #3.

I concur. Mexican Tylex is codeine 30mg with tylenol 500mg. US Tylenol #3 is codeine 30mg with tylenol 325mg.
Both are made by McNeil Pharmacueticals, or the parent company Johnson and Johnson.

Just a question for all here......
if you can get your Oxy's or Val's or whatever you are looking for while out of the country, then can't you just DHL, FEDEX, or UPS it to your home in the states no sig required and have them when you get home??
Just a thought...

You could do that, but you'd run the fairly high risk of mail from Mexico being snagged by customs.

All mail is slow in Mexico, and all shipments are subject to inspection(and theft)

You're probably right. This is equivalent to Tylenol #3, and it isn't available in the states. Definitely not oxy.

When you hear about Percodan in Mexico, it's 99.9% chance that they are talking about (or trying to sell) NEO-PERCODAN.
I made this mistake once (and only once) in Mexico. Neo-Percodan has the same pain killing properties as M&M's.
So, make darn sure you don't buy NEO-Percodan

The last time I was in Mexico I found it easier to get morphine than any oxycodone.

When I was in Mexico, I asked the pharmacy for Valiums. They sold me a bottle of " I Dont Know What " Little white pills. That was about 9 years ago, I was not too smart then.

I think that most people will find it is harder to get morphine and Oxycontin in Mexico than in the states. It is an assumed fact that these drugs are easy to obtain there.
