Hi. I am sorry if this has been asked recently but I couldn't find any info on it. Does anyone know where (if) you can buy prepaid credit cards? Meaning, in an actual store (convenience store?) not online, because I would need to pay cash (I'm between banks and i'm waiting for my new debit/credit card which may be a few more weeks). Thanks.

National City bank has a good one for 2.95. It is a visa gift card, once the cash is done you just throw it away. If you do not have a national city bank in your area call around to some of your local banks and ask if they have visa gift cards. All of the OCS will accept them. They are easy to buy and use.

I have heard that you can get them at Radio Shack and also at your mall. I have seen the signs at the mall and you just go to customer service to purchase them. These are refillable too so you can use them over and over. Just put enough on for the order and then do that each time you order. Alot safer than using your debit card or checking account as they can take no more than what is on the card.

The ones that you buy at CVS are reloadable cards. The cost is around 19.95 per card and when you reload them with more $$ there is also a fee which is about $5.00. I believe there is also a monthly fee involved but I am not sure about that. I have had very good luck with the bank cards. For 2.95 you cannot beat the price and you walk out the door with them ready to go. To me it is seems like a less expensive way to go. JMO!!

I would love to get one of those cheap bank ones, but i have no idea which local banks would have them. Do you think most banks have them?

Try this, go to national city online and see if there is one in your area. If not just look in the phone books and call some of your local banks and ask if they carry Visa Gift Card or Prepaid Visa Cards. Find out what thier price is on them. I know that national city is 2.95.
Here is the link

Hope this helps!!

I just bought a prepaid Mastercard at Rite Aid today. It cost me $9.95 and is reloadable. There is a fee of around $4.95 to reload, but that's a lot cheaper than FedEx's c.o.d. fee (usually it's $10-$15 for c.o.d. service).
The great thing about these cards you buy from Rite Aid is that you can start using the card as soon as you buy it. They mail you the actual card in 7-10 days, but you can call Mastercard and activate your card and they will give you the card number and expiration date so that you can go ahead and start using it right away.
I think this prepaid card will be great for me b/c my bank doesn't have a local branch. I have to make my deposits through the mail and it takes about 5 days from the time I mail my deposits to when I receive credit for them, so I really have to plan ahead if I want to order my meds using my checkcard. Under these circumstances, I think this prepaid card will be a great tool. I should have bought one a long time ago. I would have saved a lot in c.o.d. fees not to mention the hassle it is to get the c.o.d. amount, secure the cash, then going to the store and getting the money order.
I can't wait to get the opportunity to use it!
