i love the idea of time release, but the OC's only last about 6 hours for me when i take them as directed, nowhere near 12. i feel that it's a waste, and would rather take roxicidone every 3 hours or at least split up the OC so it lasts longer.

Hello, I am new here but have been taking a compounded version of Oxycontin. My docotor got really mad at me over the weekend and cut me off. I just got a few from the ER to get me through until I see my doc again this week. I am wondering if there is any way to order these online like hydro is? I really do not want to have another weekend like I did this one! If anyone could help me I would really appreciate it!

Is it possible in the instance of the 80mg that crushing/chewing them could actually make them NOT effective? The guy who created the posts about the crushed up 80's not working was a legit guy, not a bullshitter, read many of his past posts so I think he is telling the truth. Now, they were also generics, not name brand, don't know if that would make a difference.
i know that brand name 80's are effective when crushed, or at least as of a couple of months ago. the generics however, i have not heard good things about those. i don't know for sure any details and have never had one myself, but i have heard people who inject them talk about how they for some reason don't work or dissolve anything like the real oxys, and don't want anything to do with them. like i said before, i do not remember any details, but maybe you can do a search on google & find out what people are saying about the generics, as i don't know for sure what it was they were referring to.
I wish I could help more, but all I can say is that generic companies have to back-manufacture everything they make. They get the right to sell the chemical compound, but not how to make it or what else to put in it. It's all reverse-engineering. So these generic Oxys - not too many generic time-released meds on the market, are there? The only reason there ARE generic Oxys is that Purdue didn't do the right paperwork and didn't get to keep their patent.

How in the h*** did you get some of these from the ER to get you through the weekend?? I have gone in multiple times with a written prescription from my doctor and they still laugh at me. Seems like next to impossible to get from the ER.
I asked them if they would like me to bring in my doc with me next time I am withdrawling for proof. Sometimes I can't afford to get my script filled. Very expensive stuff. I wouldn't waste it by crushing it up!
Sorry, off topic a little...

I guess I was really lucky to have gotten anything from the ER. I had been all weekend without my meds and had to find something on the street for Sunday night. By Monday morning I felt sooo bad I took a chance on going in. I told the ER doc what I did for my doctor to get mad at me and I had an appt. on Wednseday and cried. I had the bottle with me so he would know I wasn't making it up. He told me the ER was not the place to come for chronic pain and I needed to work this out with my doc or I would be right back in there looking for this again. He only gave me 9 but it was better than nothing! BTW, saw my doc yesterday and he said I already got the last Rx he would give me. Now, I am in the same position I was in over the weekend! Can he legally just cut me off without a 30 day supply like that?

LEagally Doctors can refuse to treat someone addicted due to medical necessity. Ethically, it comes under the Hippocratic areas of 'relive suffering' and 'do no harm'. BUT if in your Dr's opinion your primary medical condition is adddiction rather that pain - then they need special training to treat this (usuall a 1-day course)
And face it , if you're doing street drugs to get you through - you have a problem. If you are in actual pain (not withdrawing) ANY ER will give you pain relief (morph or demerol) My advise is to use temesic for pain relief and go through the opiate WD (I did once three days of hell followed by a week of Flu like symptoms) But it really brought home my situation to me. So I'm not preaching from a soapbox - I've BEEN there.
I have avoided addiction - but medical addiction is common - usually you end up using methadone for both the pain relief and addiction. Methadone is also used for chronic pain relief and is usually perscribed - BUT you cannot use street drugs (i.e. herion) with it - They cut you off.
I looked into methadone and it ia a very, very addictive drug - so no methadone for me. For me , it was not worth a lifetime addiction to avoid the 10 days of WD.
GOOD LUCK - I don't know what you underlieing pain condition is but its a 'devil and the deep blue sea' sittuation. But you have a chance at beating the devil and the sea will always drown you.

Yes, Oxycontin can be made in compound form. My doctor said it gives you "more bang for your buck". It also can be written for any strength. I was taking 50mg 3 times a day. I aoplogize for saying I had to find "street drugs", I meant I had to buy medicine because I didn't think the ER would give me any. I do have chronic pain. I have a herniated disc at L3-4, spinal stenosis, degenerative disc disorder, arthritis and depression. Is that enough problems? LOL It's not like I am taking the meds to get high, I don't even get a buzz, it just helps the pain. I had a lumbar microdiskectomy february of this year and tried to get off the meds thinking I would be pain free, but no luck on that. We all get addicted to the medicine after you take it for a year. Believe me, if I could live without this stuff I would in a heartbeat!
But does anyone know if my doctor can just take me off of this without giving me anything? I am out of meds again until I can get to the pain clinic Dec. 2nd
Thanks for everyone's responses.
